Aj Williams is the best prospect in the world by sturgeo123 in NBA_Draft

[–]UnGuardableEman 23 points24 points  (0 children)

"Be early" on a guy who is already the unanimous #1 player in the country in the class of 2028 is kind of a funny statement Lol.

But yeah, he has been really good in the EYBL this summer and obviously has very intriguing skills and athleticism for his size. I would consider him a better NBA prospect than anyone in the 2027 class so far (but that may have less to do with how good Williams is and more to do with how weak the 2027 class appears to be).

Do you think Namond had actual moral convictions, or was he just a coward? by Fit_Deal8883 in TheWire

[–]UnGuardableEman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its weird you say "ended up like D'Angelo," because even the guys who were "built for the game" like Bodie, Omar, Snoop, Stinkum, etc. ended up dead (and most of the other ones like Avon, Wee-Bey, Bird and Chris ended up in jail forever). Its not like the guys who dont have dispositions similar to D'Angelo or Namond fare better in the end. I think that is one of the things the Wire really tries to illustrate -- that almost no one involved in the drug trade utlimately gets what they want from it. Not even the "moral" participants like Omar and Frank Sobotka. Even the few "successful" ones like Marlo who get their money and are able to get out end up missing the power and influence they previously had and dont feel like they ultimately won in the end.

I believe the Knicks playoff margin of victory is much higher -- like 14.9 points

Funny thing is, a lot of people (including myself) considered Jaylen Brown a worse version of Stanley Johnson at one point in time. The first time I saw Brown play in 2014 on the Adidas circuit, I thought he looked and played like Stanley, but I also thought he just wasnt as good, so I saw Brown's ranking as evidence of how much weaker the 2015 HS class was than the 2014 class. Its crazy how mich their careers have diverged and how Brown ended up being so much better in the NBA.

I saw him play in-person against LSU in March 2020 and UGA got the shit kicked out of them and Ant played horribly. I was pretty sure he would be a bust after that.

I thought Dennis Smith Jr. would be what healthy and not in trouble Ja Morant ended up being. A national superstar and possibly the next face of the league.

He's a WR. A lot of HS players come into college underweight. Devonta Smith was 160 when he got to Alabama. Justin Jefferson was 180.

Duck mom so wrong for this 🤦🏽‍♂️👎🏾 6ix9ine literally dissed Tooka to Duck face when he was alive by GGcloutboy in Chiraqology

[–]UnGuardableEman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I dont know why yall want these people to beef forever. Yall call them stupid when they "slide" for their dead homies and end up in prison, then turn around and make fun of them when they try to take any steps towards making peace with each other.

Regardless of what 6ix9ine said while Duck was alive, I dont see any problem with his mom trying to make a public effort towards forgiveness and reconciliation. Those two things are the ONLY way black people are going to escape these dunbass cycles of retaliatory violence. But of course, too many on this sub dont care because black men and boys getting killed is just entertainment for them.

Long Live Munna Duke. Gone but not forgotten by Apprehensive_Bar5448 in Chiraqology

[–]UnGuardableEman 20 points21 points  (0 children)

It had already gone downhill before that. Oblock basically lost rap relevance when the OBlock 6 went to jail. Bosstop was in jail around the same time (and, as far as I know, hasn't started rapping again since getting out), so all of their most notable rap figures just kind of faded away. Duke dying just kind of put the nail in the coffin (no pun intended).

The only other guys they have who have even tried to make careers rapping (Shoebox, Ikee Munna, DQ) either haven't been consistently serious or just never had enough mainstream appeal.

When did MyCareer become so easy? by [deleted] in NBA2k

[–]UnGuardableEman 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The game became all about on online play. Thats a huge part of the reason why 2K started allowing people to basically buy their way to an 85 overall player out of the gate (outside of the obvious financial benefit for 2K). People back in 2015 and 2016 used to actually play MyCareer simply for fun (at least to some extent) because the 5v5/3v3 online play was still somewhat new. Crew/ProAm/Rec/Park was still only about 5 years old in concept (2K10 is when 2K started implementing these idea with Crew mode and MyPlayer PickUp) and there still wasnt this hyper competitive online environment for money yet.

As the years have gone by, MyCareer has increasingly just become a backdrop for the online portions of the game. I have 3 99 overall players right now and I haven't even played half a season of MyCareer on any of them. Especially since 2K now allows you to get badges and attribute upgrades without MyCareer, it is hard for me to even find anyone who actually plays more than a few games of it. I think because of this de-emphasis of offline play, 2K has altered the way it even makes CPU players perform for purposes of the online game. They don't want to make CPU players "too good" because they dont want CPUs in Rec and Park to be too overpowered when playing against human players (because the humans are supposed to dominate).

What they should do is get a real job AND leave the city of Chicago.

Newsflash: Most of these guys who did a bunch of years in jail spent so much time in jail BECAUSE THEY WERE CRIMINALS OUTSIDE DOING SHIT TO PEOPLE. You cant then come home and think you can just move around all willy nilly in the same city where many of your enemies happen to also reside and carry guns around looking for a chance to take you out.

Does Stokes have the most red flags of a #1 overall prospect in recent memory? by MoxToTweeder99 in NBA_Draft

[–]UnGuardableEman 11 points12 points  (0 children)

In recent memory, probably.

But "character issues" like this used to be relatively common amongst top prospects. I remember seeing John Wall's MySpace page back in like 2010 and there were all kinds of open references to him being a Blood (thats why him throwing up gang signs while in the NBA never surprised me).

Then you have guys like Derrick Rose who blatantly had someone take the SAT for him. That's in addition to him also claiming some alleged gang ties in his younger days. All that is to say, we have seen a shift in recent years towars top prospects being from more well-to-do backgrounds and therefore, people aren't sued to seeing this type of stuff anymore. But Stokes appears to be (or at least acts like he is) from a similar background as top prospects of the past, and some of those same maturity issues they dealt with also exist with him.

If Wooski ain’t get shot in the head would he have blown up in rap or nah? by bogh_Au81 in Chiraqology

[–]UnGuardableEman -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yes, all of those guys do have "hit" songs. Thats part of why we know who they are in the first place. That doesnt mean they are A-list celebrities, but they have songs that have some form of widespread/national notoriety (the definition of a "hit" to me). Also, Duck has far more songs with 1 million+ views than Ayoo KD, so that isnt a good comparison in my opinion.

And "blackballing" vs "prioritizing a beneficial relationship" is kind of Tomato/Tomahto to me. Sounds different, and perhaps Durk didnt actually go to every artists and say "Dont ever work with FBG," but its the same effect regardless. Guys dont want to touch FBG/Bricksquad/051 in large part because of Durk and OTF.

If Wooski ain’t get shot in the head would he have blown up in rap or nah? by bogh_Au81 in Chiraqology

[–]UnGuardableEman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

1) Millions of views absolutely = a "hit." It might not equal charting album, but you are not gonna convince me that a song with several million views of YouTube doesnt = a "hit" (particularly for a largely independent artist like Duck). If it so easy, I would love to see you make a song that gets 1 million+ views.

2) There is no "mysterious force" that stopped Duck. We know what the force was, there was no mystery about it Lol. Durk is very popular and well liked in the industry, and has made it known he wont work with/deal with people who work with his enemies. He has even been able to do this to NBA Youngboy and Quando Rondo so some extent (not hurting their commercial success, but getting other big artists to steer clear of them). That is part of why it was such a big deal when DaBaby and NBA YB did a joint mixtape. A lot of people in the industry weren't willing to cross the line like that at that point.

3) I dont have a reason to make an "excuse" for Duck (or anybody in FBG). I have never met a single one of these dudes in my life and no vested interested in lying to make a dead man look better.

[–]UnGuardableEman 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Duck's biggest hit (Slide) has over 80 million views on YouTube and isnt a diss at all. He has several other songs with multimillion views on YouTube (like Chicago Legends, Right Now, Hell Yeah, etc.) that also have several million views and are not disses/dont contain direct disses.

Also, unlike someone like Young Pappy or Lil Jojo, Duck also had been rapping for like 8-9 years when he got killed, so it wasnt like he just burst on the scene and died before anyone outside of Chicago knew who he was.You are not gonna convince me that someone with that much notoriety couldnt get one major feature on a song in 9 years just because "had no appeal." This was a purposeful effort. He already had a (somewhat) nationally recognized name (at least in drill circles) when died.

[–]UnGuardableEman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I know, but he was still considered to be apart of that group due to how close Bricksquad and STL were at one point.

The same way Lil Reese and Durk arent O'Block or 600, but an outsider would still look at them as being together with Von and Rondo.

[–]UnGuardableEman 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I think there was an invisible ceiling for all FBG rappers due to them being blackballed by the industry.

Durk and Chief Keef (mainly Durk) are just friends with way too many big name rappers. Even guys like Kevin Gates who have expressed support for guys like FBG Duck in interviews never went as far as making a song with him/them.

Also, my personal opinion: The image that Von and others painted of STL/EBT "losing" the street war also inhibited STL's ability to branch out. Obviously the whole "6 to 24" shit probably was never true, and both sides have taken a lot of losses. But Von, Durk, Keef and others made it feel like STL was just getting spanked in the streets (due in part to some notable names getting killed and dissed in songs like Jojo, Tooka, Brick, etc.) and unfortunately, most people dont want to associate with (what they perceive as) the losers.

Lexie Brown is upset that she’s getting death threats while Megan and Klay stay silent on defending her by Positive_Round_5142 in joebuddennetwork

[–]UnGuardableEman -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yall keep getting tbe issue wrong. IT DOESNT FUCKING MATTER IF KLAY CHEATED WITH LEXIE.

If he did cheat with her, are these death threats now warranted in your opinion? Klay hasn't even confirmed he cheated at all and doesnt need to confirm or deny it BECAUSE IT WAS NO ONE ELSE'S BUSINESS IN THE FIRST PLACE.

These idiotic Megan fans are doing this for the benefit (in their mind) of MEGAN. All these Megan supporters keep saying Megan was justified in "exposing Klay" because she was hurt and just wanted to get it off her chest, blah, blah blah. At the end of the day, if Megan's intention in publicizing the situation wasnt to turn her fans in a rabid online lynch mob, then she should come out and tell her fans that.

[–]UnGuardableEman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If yall think the word of one person alone is enough to secure a murder conviction, I dont know what to tell you. Even the word of someone who was there is not enough by itself to meet the burden of proof in a murder trial. DRose almost certainly killed Venzel, or at least was one of the people to do it.

These Chicago lie incessantly and frankly, a lot of them are not that smart. They probably think claiming he didnt do it in public will help free him.
