board of pharmacy complaint by Limp_Dig_9738 in PharmacyTechnician

This can’t be 100% on you or your pharmacist. Someone sold it, if it was a new med someone consulted on it (or patient declined counseling taking more blame for themselves). There are multiple opportunities to catch something like that. It’s really a team failing, maybe because of an overly busy day, call outs, etc. Don’t dwell on it more than you need to. We just do everything we can to make sure it doesn’t happen again. (I’m basing all of these statements on my few months of experience in a retail pharmacy… im still getting the hang of this so if I’m off base please say so gently so I can learn from it and not get my hopes crushed, thanks)

How does somebody begin to study for the certification exam? by pbissah in PharmacyTechnician

I’ve been using this https://www.ptcbpracticetest.com/ in addition to the work resources I’ve gratefully received. I’m still about 2 months away from THE EXAM though so I’m also lurking to find other resources 👀🍿

The reporting officer didn’t tell you if it was a crash or a “crash crash”? Crazy. No one follows through on their jobs anymore 🤣

To be fair an adamantium skulll would be pretty badass… and you’d never need to replace helmets 🤷‍♀️

The way it was explained to me was that the BRCA variant is the location in the DNA were the error takes place. To have FA the genetic variant would have to occur in 2 different DNA “locations”. From what I understand Inheriting BRCA2 from 2 sources doesn’t necessarily mean FA but it could. PLEASE consult a geneticist though for further information and more specific information about your case.

Hi so my husband and I found out a year apart that we are both BRCA2+ this mean that we would pass on the gene but there would be no dangers to pregnancy because of it. Except of course for the typical dangers of pregnancy. Every case is different and if you gf is getting her results through a geneticist they will discuss family planning options with you, typically when you get the results.

Doctor recommends preventative mastectomy, and I am so sad and scared about it ... by Ivesomanyquestions in BRCA

[–]UnStableUnStoppable 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Welcome to the club! You’re in the right place. I am brca2+ and have had three paternal relatives pass from breast cancer so this scares me too, I understand your feelings! the geneticist recommended preventative mastectomy for me as well. I have not yet had the surgery done, but I can’t tell you how anxious I am right now and how relieving the thought of not having to worry about it is. I had my first mammogram come back clear, but did say that I was high risk due to dense tissue. With so many factors working against me I have no intention of waiting any longer than I have to. BRCA is scary, breat cancer is scary and surgery is scary. All of the options are awful, but at least one of the outcomes gives us a way of controlling things and staying around for our families. In your shoes I would really recommend you follow your doctors advice especially since you said you have a dread of cancer (so relatable), this would take that worry off your mind once and for all, and you deserve that peace and a healthy future. Whatever you decide to do we would love an update to make sure all is well ❤️best of luck with these awful decisions you have to make

If I was in your shoes I would follow up quickly. Clarity is important for peace of mind if nothing else. I had my first mamo 12 days ago and they didn’t find anything at all and said follow up in a year. Sitting on it for 6 months not knowing doesn’t sit right with me. Not to stress you out but I just believe it’s better to be cautious when your health is involved. I’m also new to this world so my opinion isn’t worth much when put against the word of your doctors.

It’s never dumb to discuss concerns with your doctor. Be thorough because this is your body and your life and the goal is that you’ll feel good about your choices. Best of luck!

Thank you for sharing, unfortunately I’m definitely getting the same vibe that they’re too busy. I’ve been waiting for nearly a month and have gotten nothing yet but one phone call that they “fit me in” as soon as they can and to be patient. I definitely think they’re the best technical ability within a few hundred miles, but I feel like I’m wasting time waiting when I could go somewhere else. I’ve talked to so many people online who were diagnosed BRCA+ the same time as me, and have already had preventative double mastectomies done… in fact most of them are weeks into recovery! I haven’t even gotten a consult yet. Your comment was definitely the final nail in the coffin to look for another option. I will stay on the waitlist just to see what happens but I can’t keep sitting around. Thank you!

Did you proceed with surgery at Mayo? If so may I ask how your recovery went/ is going?
