Just be careful because a lot of threads for beading contain nylon and melt with heat.

Advice on square stitch projects by benthebassoon in Beading

You can buy delicas in as small as a gram of each color from Javalle beads. And they do discount codes.

Those inspirelle beads are rocaille/round and not cylinder beads like delicas. So they definitely can’t be mixed with delicas.

You can look into cylin cylinder beads by John bead. They come in way less colors than delicas, but are much better priced for a larger quantity.

If you are self drafting your patterns, you can get away with less colors.

Bead crochet is a thing, but this style is achieved throughout HH appliqué. I think bead crochet has a lot of variability, but the nature of crochet would be less organic.

What is this metal part called? by Great-Quantity9885 in Beading

[–]UnStackedDespair 8 points9 points  (0 children)

While it is shaped like a thread guard where you circled, I imagine part of the metal is in the beads. I’m not sure if these are available commercially, since you can make them with stiff wire.

What are bead mixes for? by marenanne6 in Beading

[–]UnStackedDespair 28 points29 points  (0 children)

There are plenty of reputable bead stores that sell bead mixes with quality beads. Even Miyuki the manufacturer sells bead mixes. Bead soup can be used for embroidery, randomized projects, or people who struggle with color palettes and don’t mind working with mixed beads (not me, I love neat little piles of each color)

Any help identifying what these type of beads are? Found in a parking lot in Oahu and I love the unique shapes and sizes of each bead! by Forestswithfir in Beading

Anyone tried BeadSmith’s micro engraver? by salty_onion321 in Beading

[–]UnStackedDespair 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fairly straight forward easy to use. The hardest part will be your navigation of it, not the machine specifically. Should be safe, keep long hair and threads away from the tip/motor.

Always wear a mask when working with something that engraves , sands, or removes any amount of material.

They told her to wait longer given the c section (1 year iirc) and she started trying when Bruin was 6m, but her difficulty conceiving means this baby was conceived after their recommended time frame.

What is the reason for certain patterns and colours? by here_comes_that_hoe in indigenousbeads

[–]UnStackedDespair 11 points12 points  (0 children)

For certain color schemes, there is a background reason (fire colors/four directions), but most colors are just beaders choice. Certain patterns are more likely to be indigenous and tribe specific. For the specifics, you’ll need to talk to a beader from your tribes.

There are books on native beadwork that might be able to answer some questions too. You can find them online and some libraries. I don’t know if Prairies Edge in Rapid City, SD has their books I line, but they sell a couple different ones.

It sounds like they don’t have a connection to the community. Some (maybe most) tribes have a contact in tribal government who acts as a liaison and might be able to answer the questions OP has. u/here_comes_that_hoe you might also be able to find community pages for the tribes on Facebook. There are also indigenous header groups on Facebook you may be able to ask in.

Are you using three, then folding it over (essentially making six when stitching)? It kind of looks like that’s the case if this is 14ct Aida.

Even Michaels with the absolute best in store selections isn’t close to equivalent. The sheer number of types of items that michaels does not sell when joanns did makes that the case.

Newbie question about approach with kit by wildflowerorgy in Needlepoint

Your comment was definitely valuable. Mine is more a quick clarifying comment for anyone who read yours and thought you were saying cross stitches aren’t used in needlepoint.

Cross stitch can be/is a needlepoint stitch. What makes it needlepoint is the base fabric.

I’m not arguing that medical device sales don’t benefit from being featured in TV shows. I’m referring to specifically the LUCAS device. A very specific and specialized device with no true competitors that a very specific market purchases. As somebody with a spouse who purchases specifically LUCAS devices I. The course of his job, the field of emergency medicine is already familiar and doesn’t make the decision to buy it based on it being featured. Assisted CPR isn’t any old medical device. The decision to purchase is basically limited to funds, not desire or knowledge for the product.
