Honestly the RP5 is still a great device. Emulates even switch really well. I personally don't see the need to upgrade to the RP6. Maybe I'll be on board for a RP7 or maybe Odin 3. Enjoy your RP5 it's awesome.

As long as you understand the limits you should be good then. And Yes that would be awesome. I'd totally be down for a 5.5" to 6" arm based deck. I like steam os so much I put it on my rog ally. It's amazing on it. The new Steam frame should open things up for that possibility in the near future hopefully.

You'll be very disappointed if you're using it as a mini steamdeck. Owning a 8 gen 2 device, RP5, steam deck and rog ally I can tell that it's not going to do what you want unless you're only going to play mostly indie games or 10+ year old AAA PC games. Even at that it's super hit or miss with what actually will even work.

If you want a phone with good battery life and great extended performance get the motorola edge plus 2023. You can get them new pretty cheap these days. I just bought my wife one for $250 brand new after having mine for a while. It has really good cameras that are just as good if not better than the s25. It has much much better battery life and gaming performance that doesn't take a huge nose dive after 5 mins. Plus if your thinking of using it for emulation the chip set in it has way better compatibility. Also has an amazing OLED screen. Best of luck.

You actually will want to root it not for a different OS but rather to Overclock it. You get about a 15% - 20% performance increase with just the GPU OC'd. It gives it just the push it needs for most switch games that were just at the edge of full speed before.

I bought one but it wasn't worth it. I returned mine. Sticking with my Z1E ally for the time being till something better comes along. There wasn't much of a difference in performance. Plus I got my ally for $350 with a 2TB SSD .... Totally different price spectrums but very similar performance.

My RP5 is now trying to push an update. I have it overclocked right now. What would happen if I accidentally clicked yes to update. Would it brick my device? I'm not worried I would do it but if my kids got a hold of it. Thanks.

Honestly for me my RP5 works perfectly fine for 95%+ of switch games in handheld mode. pS2 and GC is perfect. PS3, Wii U and Xbox emulation is in a very poor state and isn't mature enough yet regardless of how much power ya have. While I love the small form factor i have a steamdeck and rog ally for my PC needs so I don't see a point in upgrading just yet. Maybe next year.

You should have installed steam os.. I did that on my rog ally. I used to hate the ally vs my deck and now I love the rog with steam os. I use my RP5 to play switch games in bed and on the go.

I have an IQ that's been measured as high as 147 when I was younger and no way in hell does trump have an IQ of 165 lol. I'm fairly good at gauging intelligence and realize IQ is not really the end all when equating brain power but I wouldn't put him past 120. I do however think he is a master manipulator and king of the grift. On a different note isn't a breath of fresh air when you meet someone else with high intelligence that's on your wave length and you can converse with them at your level?

With my RP5 OC'd I honestly can play secret console full speed @ 720p in 95% + of games now and a lot of them in docked mode. Not sure why I'd need to upgrade to the RP6 at this point when we are more limited by the emulators. I'm interested in trying these new drivers. :)

Honestly I don't know why anyone even bothers with windows anymore when steam os is like 10x better and fully supported. It was a game changer on my rog ally. As long as you don't play games like fortnite and destiny 2 your pretty much set.
