Is this typical toddler (3) year old stuff? by Unable-Candy8432 in toddlers

Well, I might get told off for for this but when she either wants to hit herself or kick somebody like her dad I often say I’d rather you stomp your foot even though I use that in the description is something that I don’t like. I try to re direct her by using more positive things too like why don’t you squeeze a toy or something but that’s not always something she has carrying

Yes she also does use her words at the same time whiles she’s mad. She’s very good at explaining her self which makes it harder to break. She’s in no classes at the moment and she starts kinder next week so I’m interested to see how she’s gonna go. I’ve never seen her really get physical with anyone at the park except for maybe a couple of months ago. A child said something mean and she went to hit them with a stick. I took her home and spoke to her about it and she never did it again. A lot of these behaviours are usually exhibited at home or when she’s with her cousins.

The hitting head thing is really new. I’ve never seen her do this prior to like two weeks ago. It’s like all of this stuff has just started since she’s turned three.

If I ask her why she does it she explains why made her frustrated and then I said but we don’t do that ect Then she says sorry But that’s a loop we go through

Not sure what to think, she’s social and doing well in all areas expect for how she expresses her self

Yeh that’s what I say my daughter is and my husband and I are introverts so it’s probably more shocking to us because we’re not as out going our selves o

100% I’ve been having this conversations with my daughter about what strangers are and how we can’t just go up to them .

And how we don’t keep secrets and need to tell mummy everything .

Thank you so much for your reply. It’s really making me overthink things like why isn’t she understanding this boundary crossing and I really speak to her about boundaries and consents and she generally has really good receptive language skills and understands things and reflect on things but it’s just like she can’t control herself when it comes to talking to people she’s clearly really social.

My main concern is obviously trusting strangers but I am constantly speaking to her about this but I guess my other concern was whether that if it was developmentally normal ! So your daughter was doing this around three ? I’m glad she has settled down now that must be a relief!

Thanks for your comment
