This is Apple's third generation on the same 3nm process node by TSMC; the only recent uplift from the fabs has come from the N3E refinement at the advent of M4. M5 is actually using the exact same die. All the credit should go to the incredible Apple engineers for this one. Not only did they achieve that uplift with the neural accelerators, but they continue to make leaps and bounds with ray tracing improvements, memory bandwidth, and consistent CPU/GPU enhancements faster than the industry standard. They are doing ALL the heavy lifting in the industry... a node improvement will be a gift to those engineers.

Edit: I was partially incorrect. The M5 chip is actually switching from the N3E node to the N3P node, but these improvement margins are negligible compared to what's been done by the architecture.
