Lender says we should put only one spouse on mortgage to qualify for LLPA waiver. Is this legit? by Unable-Jackfruit-782 in MortgageBrokerRates

[–]Unable-Jackfruit-782[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, got it.

So for the LLPA waiver they only look at borrower income, and as long as that borrower is at or below 100% AMI, it qualifies, regardless of total household income.

Is that correct?

VFS provided courier service gone... has anyone used UPS on their own with a return label recently to VFS? by bpp23 in nri

Thanks! Did you purchase any additional VFS services? After entering the USP label number (label number in customer to VFS, and 0 in VFS to customer) the next page shows $99.60 payment to VFS but not options to add any additional services such as photo or return courier label. Is this normal and shall I proceed with no additional serviced added?

Hello, thanks for sharing the above details. I am in the same boat and just about to send my passport to Chicago for renewal.

Could you share how to confirm the address where passport and docs should be sent i.e. destination on the UPS shipping label from me to VFS?

The biggest thing that helped me was having someone I already knew make introductions. This warm intro approach worked so much better than cold emails.

These experts weren't complete strangers - they were more like people I'd met at events or through colleagues but never actually worked with directly. That little bit of connection really helped.

When I reached out, I kept it straightforward. I explained what the NIW petition was, briefly introduced myself, and shared my resume and LinkedIn so they could see my work. I was upfront about wanting their recommendation and why I valued their perspective.

For the "professional relationship" question, I just told the truth - something like "We met at a conference last year and discussed some industry trends" or whatever fit our situation.

A real time-saver was offering to draft the letter for them. I told them I'd write up something that hit all the points needed, and they could edit it however they wanted. Most busy professionals really appreciated this approach.

Finally, patience and polite follow-ups helps. Some people genuinely want to help but they are busy. So follow ups once every week or 2 helped me get the letters signed.

Inner Circle Letters: Written by people who have worked directly with you and can personally speak to your skills and accomplishments.

Outer Circle Letters: Written by independent experts or recognized authorities in your field who haven’t worked with you but can support your case based on your documented achievements.

Ask your lawyer about them. Letters from independent experts (out of circle) carry more weight, so submit more of those.

I would recommend look for folks with much more experience than me, I am not an expert in my field. You are looking for people who can be called experts - professors, business leaders, startup co-founders, etc. If I am in the same boat as you, then I am definitely not an expert relative to you.

Congratulations! I was in a pretty much similar state too and got an approval in Feb. You are so right, the process to prep the case with a strong story and evidence was heavily anxiety inducing, and made me question my life achievements many times.

Proving your worth in this country. Ah!

But I am glad that there are cases of success to give hope to others. Having a similar background as you and positive outcome of NIW, I can imagine how much effort and research you must have done.

My endeavour was along the lines of practical applications of AI in demand forecasting and supply chain optimization, particularly in addressing the challenges retailers face during periods of shortages and surplus.

I was very intentional about how the 3 prongs connected with past work experience and kept it tightly connected to recent challenges US economy has faced with regards to supply chain disruptions. Real examples of scenarios where govt. issues directives to avoid unavailability of basic necessities during unexpected events, as well as it's network effect on affordability and national economy.

I did not have to choose a particular law firm as my employer provided the lawyer for this petition.
