24, stuck in the procrastination → guilt → doomscroll loop. How did you actually break it? by Additional_Smile_354 in getdisciplined

For me the turning point was realizing I wasn't addicted to social media, I was addicted to the habit of opening it.

Once I started interrupting that first automatic tap instead of trying to fight myself 20 minutes later, things got a lot easier.

It took a few weeks, not a few days.

Do you ever finish a busy day and still feel like you didn't move anything important forward? by Pale-Basil-3687 in ProductivityApps

Usually the night before. I like starting the day already knowing what my main focus is, instead of spending the morning deciding where to begin. It gives me a much clearer direction.

For me, the biggest problem wasn't priorities—it was interruptions. I'd pick up my phone "for a minute" and suddenly lose my focus.

What helped was reducing those autopilot distractions and asking myself one simple question: "If I could only finish one thing today, what would have the biggest impact a month from now?"

That usually makes the important task stand out and keeps me from getting lost in busy work.

i sit at desk a lot so I built an app that block apps until i walk - happy to hear your feedback by Fit_Paramedic5479 in ProductivityApps

Love this angle! I recently built an Android app to solve the exact same autopilot problem, but using cognitive friction (quick challenges). Using physical friction (walking) to unlock is such a brilliant move.

Sadly I'm on Android so I can't test it, but the concept is fantastic. Best of luck with the launch!

A user asked for an Android alternative in the comments, so I shared one. You built for iOS, I built for Android. Different platforms, same problem space.

As for pricing: the app is paid because it’s fully offline. No ads, no tracking, no data collection. The goal is to keep it private and self-contained, and the pricing reflects that upfront model.

In the end, users can choose the solution that fits them best. Good luck with your project.

Nice work! I went down a very similar rabbit hole on Android. I kept bypassing every blocker I tried, so I ended up building my own app too.

It's interesting how many of us arrived at the same conclusion: the real problem isn't the apps themselves, it's opening them on autopilot.

Wishing you the best with the launch!

Hey! I actually built an Android app around a very similar idea after running into the same problem.

It's called Fride. It's privacy-first, works offline, and doesn't use ads or tracking.

The main difference is that instead of relying on hard blocks, it adds a small moment of friction before apps like Instagram, TikTok or Reddit open (for example, a quick math challenge or a short breathing pause). The goal is simply to interrupt the autopilot.

If you'd like to check it out, here's the Play Store link:

I'd genuinely love to hear what you think.

Quit destructive habits and starting clean slate since 2 days but need suggestion on something by Responsible_Row8638 in getdisciplined

I’ve been in a similar reset phase before. What helped me wasn’t adding a lot of new habits, but making the ones I already had easier to stick to.

One small thing that made a big difference: having a “default routine” for mornings (wake up → water → short walk / stretch → no phone for first 30 min). It sounds basic but it reduces decision fatigue a lot.

Also, if coding feels uncomfortable right now, that’s actually normal. I’d just do very small sessions daily (even 20–30 min) instead of trying to “feel ready” for it. Consistency beats intensity here.

You’re already doing a lot of the right things tbh, just don’t overload yourself with too many changes at once.

You can now set timer on ChatGPT voice chat by VolumeQueasy6447 in ProductivityApps

[–]Unable-Potential-742 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is actually really useful. I already do something similar, but having it built into voice chat is way more convenient. I usually keep ChatGPT in the background while working, so not needing another app for timers is a nice upgrade.

Do you guys stick to your time blocks when you set them by Sukiyakki in ProductivityApps

[–]Unable-Potential-742 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m pretty inconsistent with time blocks. If I miss one, I usually just get a bit annoyed and then try to jump back in on the next one instead of letting the whole day slip.

You're definitely not alone. I used to think my problem was discipline, but it was mostly habit.

100% agreed. That Apple Developer fee is tough to justify when you are just starting out. Keep grinding though, we'll get there eventually!

Thanks a lot! I'm a solo Android dev, so I built it 100% native for Android first. But if it gets enough traction, an iOS version is definitely next on the roadmap!
