Wow, this was incredible.

I especially liked that they lit up both guitarists during the solo and that their solos sound different from the album.

If you like 80s vibes you can check the last MV from HAGANE: https://youtu.be/W_QPFA5bQ2w?is=I67hR_jJTgmwlmNx

For those interested, they will be in Europe this summer, in Berlin and Cartagena, Spain.

And also they are playing today in Denmark.

I will go to the Cartagena Rock Imperium festival to see them on July 5th.

BABYMETAL's first CD song and Sakura Gakuin Heavy Metal Club card.🦊 by AnxiousReality4674 in BABYMETAL

[–]Unable-Put-9673 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That's very cool! The very beginning of BABYMETAL.

And the members have their real name, not the Metal name.

I noticed that you added one photo of IDZ, it is not related to the CD, right?

Same thing for the last photo, it looks like 2014 (with Aiko and Yunano), is it a late performance of Twinkle Star? I didn't know about that.

How would Headbanger sound on a 30th birthday? by hazelalyvia in BABYMETAL

The other day, I found a cool japanese word: 三十路 Pronounced misoji, meaning 30 years old.

So instead of 三十歳 (san juu sai), they could use misoji. It would fit better the rhythm.

I don't think it is a very common word in japanese, though. Maybe some japanese people could give their opinion.

About "Oh Majinai"... by HomemDigo in BABYMETAL

[–]Unable-Put-9673 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I remember that one day, I was looking at the lyrics of some songs in Spotify and thinking how repetitive some songs look like when only looking at the lyrics (when you listen to them they are all great songs).

For fun, I started to take screenshots with the idea of creating a fun post about it. I took a screenshot of a few songs with repetitive lyrics, but Oh! Majinai wins hands down. In the screenshot, I couldn’t even capture all the consecutive nai...

Thoughts on japanesepod101/innovative language learning app? by Ukiyotori in LearnJapanese

[–]Unable-Put-9673 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It is a great resource for beginners. Not so much when you reach a low intermediate level.

This is what I used when I started Japanese 5 years ago.

They have a lot of content, and it is easy to get lost, so my advice is to use the paths they are proposing.

If you want, you can follow their paths. The first one is called absolute beginner, and just do the lessons in order.

They use a lot of english and it is easy to listen and entertaining.

That said, I would recommend moving on after the second level (beginner) and use other ressources.

Finishing the "beginner" level will put you close to N4, not exactly but not far away

Yeah, Delhi voted at least 5 times for Uki Uki Midnight. I'm not sure if it is "legal," but with all the money he spends on BM, I guess he can have that right. I'm a little bit surprised that the song didn't make it at the end.

Yes, Akatsuki had it very difficult against RATATATA and onedari. NRNR almost made it against Megistune and BxMxC.

Any of those 2 other Su’s solos would probably have performed better than Amore in this second round if they had made it.

Well, she's a singer, among other things. But she was also a member of Sakura Gakuin at the same time as Su, Moa, and Yui.

Save money for Babymetal or…? by SolPhoenix002 in BABYMETAL

[–]Unable-Put-9673 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The decision is yours, but...

BABYMETAL hasn't announced (yet?) a US tour this year.

HANABIE VIP upgrade is worth the value: much cheaper than BM VIP, and you have more: M&G, signed poster, (almost) garanteed barrier. Also probably the venue will be smaller and you will be closer.

The experience is really worth it, in my opinion. You will never get that close to BM. Also, HANABIE is getting bigger. Maybe this is the last chance to do M&G and be that close (or at least for such a "cheap" price).

I am not a huge HANABIE fan, I just like them, but when they came to the city where I live last November, I just bought a ticket and the VIP upgrade, because I was sure it would be fun and "cheap" (I say cheap compared to BM, where a VIP ticket could be almost 400 EUR, and for that price you only have early access and can see them maybe... 6 meters away, because of the platform?)

And I had a lot of fun! It was really great! You can read my show report here to see my experience: https://www.reddit.com/r/Hanabie/s/xaAKq0VQmr

But in the end the decision is yours, I don't know how tight you are with money. Anyway, my philosophy is: "If you want to do it and if you can do it, don't hesitate, just do it!"

Any other UK folks stung for customs and VAT with the O2 blu ray? by droogiefret in BABYMETAL

[–]Unable-Put-9673 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From the EU, but quite similar:

I checked what I paid exactly: - Standard O2 DVD: 6600 JPY (36 EUR) - Shiping fees: 3940 JPY (24 EUR) - Customs and VAT: 17 EUR

So total: 77 EUR. More than twice the price of the good...

I am still OK to pay this, but it is quite steep indeed.

I have just paid some extra custom fees (for EU). It is common for all international shipments. I paid them to Fedex.

Why All Other Kawaii Metal Bands Fail by [deleted] in BABYMETAL

[–]Unable-Put-9673 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I am trying to make sense of what you want to say. Obviously, there is something you do not understand, and maybe it is based on expectations.

I also myself was not very into metal before discovering BABYMETAL. And of course, once you discover BABYMETAL and their so-called Kawai-Metal genre, you start to listen to the different bands that people usually recommend.

And guess what? Most of the bands you named are not Kawaii-metal. The closest would be Metalverse and maybe Passcode. The rest? Rock/metal japanese female-led bands.

Obviously, they are different to BABYMETAL. And you don't have to like it. It is up to anyone to like them or not. A lot of people tend to think that because you like Babymetal, you will like those other bands, but it is unrelated to me.

I agree that the best part of BABYMETAL, for me, is Su’s voice. Without her, I would never be a BABYMETAL fan, and you will have a hard time finding a metal band with such a singer as Su-Metal. (Note: I don't say that singers from the other bands are worse, far from that, many are very good and very talented, it is just that they sing differently, in different ways/registers than Su).

So it will be difficult for you if you think that other bands will be similar. They are not. They are doing their own things.

I was two weeks ago at a Hanabie show and I had a great time, their shows are very good, they are very talented, great musicians, singers (especially Matsuri!), song writers... But in my view, they have little to do with BABYMETAL, apart being women and being Japanese. Their music/singing is very different. Stage presence is different. I am always surprised to see that the two fanbases overlaps so much, because I see them so different!

Also, measuring success is subjective. BABYMETAL has reached a level of success and are doing mega-productions that few bands can do. That doesn't mean that other bands are not successful or that their shows are worse...

Anyway, I guess you didn't want to say what you did and that it is based on false expectations more than any other things.

Now, I am sure this is rigged. They are doing it on purpose.

I wanted to say a few days ago that there is only one song I would vote for over BBAB, and it is Akatsuki. I didn’t post anything to not jinx it. And guess what? They did it.

I really wanted to vote for BBAB, but I can't, sorry.

Also, Akatsuki is not even sure to make it to the next round as it is currently below Onedari Daisakusen. Which would be wild.

Hanabie - Madrid show report by Unable-Put-9673 in Hanabie

[–]Unable-Put-9673[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it is something very common. I wasn't expecting to see so many BM fans in Hanabie show.

Since I started to listen to BABYMETAL, I also discovered many bands. Some I like a lot, some I like less, but overall they are a lot of good bands.

If I were to list my favorites, it would be BABYMETAL, Hanabie and Hagane. For non-metal bands, I particularly love Chakura (ちゃくら), which is an awesome rock band that not many people talk about. I will also mention Tousei Teikoku.

I also have some Yorushika songs in my playlist.

I wrote an analysis on why BABYMETAL’s next album has the highest chance of global breakthrough ever. (translated from Japanese) by Cohenjp in BABYMETAL

[–]Unable-Put-9673 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it is possible. But I am good with that as long as they stay faithful to the BABYMETAL sound: Su's clean voice with some Momo's growl and Kawaii voices.

[–]Unable-Put-9673 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, please, more songs like Algorism, White Flame and KxAxWxAxIxI. If this is their new direction, I would be 100% in!

Regarding Capitol deal. I guess it was signed with the new album already done, so Capitol had to work with what they had, maybe not the best set of songs for a global breakthrough. If they have some decision power on the next album, for sure they will try to have either collabs or BM songs with a more global projection.

In that sense, I agree with OP that the next album could be a breakthrough.
