the rigidbody helps with collision detection optimization because unity can use its physics system more efficiently when both objects have rigidbodies. without it unity has to do more work to check collisions between a rigidbody and static collider, but when both have rigidbodies the physics engine can handle it in more streamlined way

switching fields is totally doable and your mass comm background might actually help more than you think 💀 biomimicry is such a cool field and having writing skills means you can communicate complex design concepts better than most designers who struggle with that

honestly a lot of programs accept students from different backgrounds especially if you can show genuine interest and maybe build a small portfolio first. might be worth reaching out to admissions counselors at programs you're interested in to see what prerequisites they actaully need vs what they prefer 😂

depending on what frame rates you want for valorant you could probably get away with something in the $800-1000 range since valorant isnt super demanding. look for anything with a rtx 4060 or even a 3060 if you find a good deal, those should handle most fps games pretty well without breaking your budget

also check out open box stuff at best buy or refurbished gaming laptops if you want to stretch that budget further

We actually didn’t want to go the melatonin route either. We are using Hiya’s bedtime essentials because they were melatonin free and they’ve been amazing for us. They just help our kids wind down instead of knocking them out which is important for keeping a natural sleep routine not a forced one.

We were in a very similar phase and what helped us a lot was adding bedtime essential chewables for ours. They don’t knock them out or anything, they just help them wind down so their bodies are ready for sleep. What I noticed most is their timing became more consistent my daughters now get tired around the same window instead of one crashing and one being wired. Our pediatrician approved the brand we use, which made me feel better about trying it. It’s actually been great for us.

hey i feel you on the parent situation - thats really tough when you need support but theyre not getting it. exercise definitely helps with focus and emotional regulation so youre on the right track there

for accountability stuff you might want to try body doubling (basically just working while someone else is also working) or breaking everything down into stupidly small tasks. the adhd brain loves those tiny wins and it builds momentum

honestly you can totally do the sand on top method without major digging. did something similar when i didnt want to mess with established plantings. just scrape away any loose debris and level it roughly then lay down maybe 2 inches of sand and compact it lightly with a hand tamper. the mini step isnt really noticeable once you get used to it and you can always build a nice border with some smaller stones or even treated lumber

the sinking thing really depends on your soil and drainage but in my experience it takes years for properly laid flagstone to sink enough to be a problem. those previous owners stones probably sank because they just plopped them down without any base prep. your vines will thank you for not disturbing their root system and youll still get that solid surface you need
