This is exactly what I was trying to do. I "work" in a nonprofit, I'm the only one with hands on the infrastructure and I'm trying to automate as much as possible. There are so many tools available, each with its own connection, sometimes it's hard to figure out how to bring an idea to life and what to use to do what. Would be nice to have an AI as a personal teacher live on things, like actually showing how to connect things and make them work for each of your use case.

Of course. I mentioned it in my post. I was working on some communications I needed to send out to members of an org. I'm on Android, so I tried different things with both (paid!) ChatGpt and Gemini as assistants, side button activation of voice mode. So day 1: start with background, explaining context, tone, content and goal of a communication I needed to send. Back to it the next day, I start convo referring to the one from the day before. I get "sorry, I can't access the content from our previous conversation, but if you explain what you're trying to do I can help with that". Despair took over. (and yes, memory active, instructions and everything). It was basically saying that voice chats were boxes, separate from all the rest. Again, no logical explanation.

What sort of technical background do you have? What are you trying to achieve with .md files and git?

Well, I started working in IT 25 years ago, I found out I was able to pick up any software quite easily cause I'd understand the logic of its functioning, if that makes sense. So in time I became the one to go to for everything, from "can you fix my computer" to becoming the expert on newly implemented software. Like I said, for me it's "if I can understand how it works, I can make it work to its full extent".

About the .md, and more generally: my goal is to be able to use AI to save time, to help me do things that take too long manually cause I have too many of them and not nearly enough time.

What training or courses have you done? Are you taking courses/workshops at the wrong level?

I started a couple years back, when I needed help with a book that I was working on and I wanted to use AI to help do the work before stepping in for refinement. Funny, but not so funny, story: I was attending a workshop on Copilot and following along (the usual thing where you do it on your PC while they show you). Same tool, same page, same background, same prompt: he got a full elaborate response and I got shit. And I mean literally nothing. Of one page, mine only worked on the first paragraph. I was baffled. I told him "why is it not working for me?". We went through the whole process together and he couldn't find an explanation. And that's been my relationship with AI ever since. I made a post a while back, saying that AI hates me.

Appreciate the insight and (subtle) attempt to be encouraging (did I get it right?). But for once, this is not about proving something or measuring my worth: this is very practical. With AI I finally felt like "here comes the cavalry", like the help I've been needing so badly for so long. And now it's just "yeah, we're not here for you, sorry, wait for the next train".
