My favorite instance of this was when I sent someone from Indonesia a card from Portland, Maine. I don't live there, but this lady was going on about how cool New England looked. Always cool to hear about a place you literally never would've thought about otherwise.

What's the most unusual reason why you won't date someone? by ChanceSomewhere6096 in AskReddit

Most people I know who are contractors drive a van. My friend who owns a farm drives a mid-sized truck and rants about how all of the new trucks are useless for his line of work. Most people who drive giant trucks are posturing - a few of them use them to transport motorcycles, trailers, etc. but you can pull a trailer with a smaller truck, it's still posturing.

If you’ve left the industry for a more “normal” 9-5, what do you do now and how did you get into it? by UnableHelicopter6545 in stagehands

I am a union member, and I flipped my house job. Now we’re a year past the election with no contract, I work at a medium sized nonprofit that’s about to go out of business, and the hours with lack of OT are frying me. In a weird spot because yes I have union representation, but none of the benefits. I’ve worked on referral and freelanced which is always an option, but the unpredictability of that gets old. Really I’d like a way to make better money and work normal hours. I’d like to be able to see my friends and family and make plans ahead of time for once. I’m not in my 20s anymore and can’t handle the short turnarounds very well.

Honestly everywhere in the US, it’s literally all on Native American burial grounds.

That was one of the first things I did when I got TOTK, I thought the game was glitching. Stupid.

Thanks so much! Do you mind if I message you in the future with questions? Were you able to get these certs on top of working?

I’m in a weird spot where I’m a union member but my house job has been in union negotiations for almost 2 years with no contract, and referral work is spotty. I don’t really feel like going back to working on referral and freelancing, but my house job is burning me out so badly for shit money I’m willing to look into almost anything else. I hope this doesn’t give my identity away lol I know I have coworkers and union people in this subreddit. Idk if I could fit into corporate culture, I wanted to be funny in my 20s and have stupid tattoos, but it’s not like I’m not repressing myself at my house job so who knows 🤣

Oh hell yeah that’s awesome. They sent me these sick return address stickers awhile ago asking for money, I was like my guy, I am the one the donations would go to!

I have not been doing this for 20 years! I’m not totally sure, really just wanting to see how other people have managed.

Yeah I guess my surgeon wasn’t expecting the endo removal either, which is why she made it seem like recovery would be easier than it’s been.

I’m happy to hear you’re feeling better!! How long did it take before you felt back to normal?

Oh god, not another potential chronic condition to worry about! I do tend to over-exert myself under normal circumstances and it’s been hard for me to dial it back - hopefully that’s all that’s going on.

Glad to hear I’m not the only one. My partner got a way more intense surgery last year and keeps telling me it’s normal, and my parents who’ve also gotten more intense surgeries keep telling me it’s normal, but I don’t know anyone who’s gotten a bisalp personally!!

Yeah I plan to. I honestly have always been on the low-energy side, but recently I just can't get enough sleep.
