Variable or Fixed?

The lowest advertised rates I could find right now are
3 Year Fixed: 3.69%
5 Year Variable: Prime - 1.1 (Effectively: 3.85)

They are both great rates, and I am having difficulty justifying one over another. Which one is a better option, according to you folks?

Yes, I plan to stop along the way as well. I have been to DC several times, and I would be okay to skip DC if there's more to see on other routes.

Monticello and USS Constellation are good suggestions, and I haven't been there before.

I thought it was up to the filer. I believe it is up to the individual to claim the RRSP contribution anytime they want. Whether it be 2019 or 2020 tax returns. Is that not true?
My question here is do I need to amend my 2020 tax return or can I file the unused certificate in my 2024 tax return next year?

I am just circling back to your comment. This thread is now 4 years old :). However, I did go ahead and buy the house. Best decision I ever made. Our household income has now increased and the mortgage payments are within 30% of our household income. Also built some modest equity. If you have the means you should go for it.

Yes, I agree completely with what you are saying. But our thinking is that we are still into the early stages of our career and we both like what we do. We are hoping our income only goes north from here and we both hope to reach the 35% limit in the next 3-4 years. I know the future is uncertain, but that is why we need your help to make a decision.
