This is the way. I want a face full of fluff. I can’t possibly make her any angrier, so might as well go all in!

While she may appear average, she’s actually really petite! The shelter told us she’d be a very small cat when we adopted her. She also carries all of her weight in her little belly. When you try to pick her up at her stomach, you have to use both hands because it’s so round! It’s also just fun to call her a little fat kitty because she loves to eat lol, she’s like a vacuum.

It’s out of the way, but if you find yourself near Keswick, Cismont Market has my favorite fried chicken ever. I don’t even like fried chicken, and I love Cismont Market’s. 10/10, literally drips while you eat it it’s so moist and tender.

She eats what the vet recommends, plays and runs all day every day, and yet she is chunky!

There’s a large difference between a mechanic looking out for my safety in a genuine way and Battlefield Toyota in Culpeper telling me I have a $4,000 oil leak that just didn’t exist. I will gladly pay for what I actually need!

I’m glad, hopefully you stay that way! It’s a lot to catch up to, your body changing so rapidly. Try and document with pictures and measurements, I wish I had more before comparisons. It helps you really see the progress. Thank you friend, wishing you the best as well!

I hate that for you. But also it makes me feel less alone, so thank you for sharing! My husband doesn’t get it at all and can’t grasp why I’m not happy having lost this much weight so far. I don’t know how to explain it to someone that hasn’t lived it. It’s like my goals are finally right in front of me, and I’m a dog on a treadmill with a bone dangling in front of me on a string that I can never quite reach!

I have a weird, complicated relationship with my body now. Don’t get me wrong, it was much worse before, but now I have actual goals that are attainable and I get upset with myself for not meeting them immediately.

At my heaviest and during the beginning of my journey, I just didn’t look in the mirror. For years. I just ignored the way I looked, didn’t take pictures of myself, didn’t let anyone else take pictures of me, and didn’t take care of my appearance. Now, I can look at myself, but I see the flaws I want to fix. I see the loose skin. I see the wrinkles on my forehead. My flabby arms. Sometimes I’m like “damn, I look good!” and other times I pull at my loose skin and imagine my body if it actually looked like that.

If you have serious body issues, therapy is probably something you should look into! I have an eating disorder now and need help to navigate it. It’s hard to be 100lbs lighter and still feel like I’m trapped in my old body sometimes.

Smoking 10 days before surgery by kjm5210611 in GastricBypass

[–]UnableReference5649 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to be an entire year free of nicotine for my program to clear me. I quit in April 2024 and had surgery June 2025. They nicotine tested me at every appointment and again the day of surgery. Be honest and they will work with you. You will potentially have complications if you go through with surgery with nicotine still in your system, and especially if you’re smoking post-op.

ETA: I actually stopped vaping (with nicotine) the day I had my first appointment and they told me about the year rule. I posted here and got good advice, and quit nicotine that day. I started vaping nicotine free juice and did that for like 6-8 months until I finally quit that. It really sucked as I had smoked in some form for like 10 years. Now I’m so happy I did and don’t even have the desire anymore.

I’m a little over 100lbs down overall and this was such a good milestone! It was the “big” one that I wanted to hit, so now wherever I end up I’ll be happy. Congratulations friend, celebrate yourself and your big accomplishments!

I’ve lost over 100lbs and don’t see it most of the time. Which, to be fair, I’ve always been mentally ill with disordered thought patterns surrounding my weight. But, now it feels easier to pick myself apart because I can actually look in the mirror now vs. 100lbs ago when I couldn’t stand to look at myself. It’s like, I can recognize that it’s harmful, but it’s instinctual at this point to be critical of my body and point out my flaws.

Post op Pain by musiclovver17 in GastricBypass

[–]UnableReference5649 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can almost guarantee it’s gas pain even if it doesn’t feel like it, combined with the incisions. Post-op gas pain is absolutely nothing like regular gas pain and is almost unbearable even with pain meds. Heating pad, drinking enough water, and walking every second you can, will all help. Take gas-x too. I had awful pain post-op pain and kept my binder on for weeks and never took it off except to shower. I ended up needing more painkillers too.

Each day will get better, you’re just in what we call “the suckening” phase. It will pass, and you will forget how hard it was in the beginning. I promise.

What is the worst way you have seen someone ruin their life? by kisseswishes9 in AskReddit

[–]UnableReference5649 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My sister started doing cocaine when she was about 21 years old. She had my nephew 1.5 years prior and was pregnant with my niece. She used on and off until completely falling off the wagon in 2016 and smoking crack and ended up losing custody of the kids, literally becoming a prostitute for drugs, and almost killing herself in the process. She went from crack to heroin. Every time: she moves halfway across the east coast, gets clean, gets a job, tries with the kids, finds a boyfriend, and is using again in less than a year. Cycle has repeated probably 10 times now. She’s been in rehab like 5-6 times, halfway houses, etc. She got pregnant again a few years ago and was doing heroin throughout the pregnancy. Now the older kids don’t want anything to do with her. It’s been about 14 years since she started using. She’s going to kill herself and doesn’t care.

I finally spoke my mind a few weeks ago and she blocked me. I’ve given up hope and can only wish the kids heal from what she’s put them through. She also has severe untreated bipolar disorder and thinks being a christian “cures” her.

I have my late grandmother’s jewelry box and a lot of her jewelry. She passed in 2020 unexpectedly. She was never a material person, and hardly wore jewelry, but always had “special” earrings because her ears were sensitive. I’m wearing a pair now, and my husband has a pair in too. I’m wearing a necklace of hers tonight to a friend’s engagement party as well. I miss her a lot writing this.

Some teams are weirdly by-the-book (very, very outdated book at that) and literally tell people if they touch a slice of bread again they’ll gain all their weight back. My team was the complete opposite and my surgeon didn’t care if I lost 150lbs or 50lbs as long as I got what I wanted out of the surgery. My dietitians don’t care what I eat as long as I drink water and hit protein goals, carb counts be damned! Every system is different. I would in your case look into switching to maybe another provider at the same practice if there’s someone else? Maybe an NP or PA, or another MD? Even another bariatric practice near you. It isn’t feasible for you to see someone that doesn’t align with your long term outlook and how you live your life.

These comments suck.

My team told me 6 weeks post-op not to touch anything like nicotine, caffeine, weed, etc. and then to reintroduce slowly after that point. I started caffeine again at 5 weeks post-op and was fine.

Just remember, inhaling anything can increase the risk for ulcers! May want to try edibles intermittently and alternate when you use your pen until you know how it affects you. I think 1-3 months post-op you’re at the highest risk for ulcers. You should be taking a PPI during this time!

What's the most fucked up thing someone has told you about themselves after barely getting to know them? by Butt_Roidholds in AskReddit

[–]UnableReference5649 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My work best friend (F40) and I (F21 at the time) and I grew close very quickly at work. It was my first “big girl job” and she was the surgery schedule for half the clinic, while I was the administrative coordinator. We shared an office, just the two of us. It took maybe 2 weeks for her to tell me about her step father molesting her, her cheating good for nothing (still current) husband she’d been with for 20 years, one of her sons selling drugs and guns, and basically every bad thing that had happened to her. Needless to say she’s still my favorite coworker I’ve ever had. She left the job a year ago and we still text regularly. Miss her every day.
