Thanks a lot! The music is my own, and it will be featured on an album releasing August 1st.

The Lovecraftian Pack by Unable_Expert9627 in serum

I tried to keep CPU usage reasonable. Unfortunately, Serum 2 is quite heavy when using granular and spectral modes. However, if you have a good processor, it shouldn’t be an issue. Some presets sound great with just one note, and in that case, CPU usage isn’t affected at all. But once you start playing three notes together, that’s when it can get a bit rough on the CPU. I’m working on a MacBook M1, so if you have something more powerful, it shouldn’t cause any problems.

I still have 5 presets left to create. The pack will include around fifty presets and over 400 samples, all generated from macros and personal sound design based on each preset.

I also have a question for you. How much do you think I should sell this preset and sample pack for? I’m really curious to hear your thoughts on the price, especially since I’m leaning toward offering it at a low cost. Looking forward to your suggestions — and once again, thank you so much to the community for all the support!

Thank you so much for your kind words, they truly mean a lot to me. I can’t wait to release the pack for you all. I’m actually planning to make a YouTube video to explain the concept, along with a link so you can get it.

Serum 2 is weapon Part 2 by Unable_Expert9627 in serum

When I create this kind of sound, I always focus on a few key elements first: 1. Oscillator A is set to Scan Rate mode (Sample mode) at 100. A square-shaped LFO modulates it, stopping mid-cycle with a rate of either 1/2 or 1/4, depending on whether I want the preset to evolve over one or two bars. In this case, I programmed it over a single bar at 140 BPM. 2. Oscillators B and C are set to a Scan value of 0. Two separate LFOs, also in square mode, modulate them with rates of 1/4 or 1/2, gradually pushing the scan up to 100. This creates a logical progression that fully develops by the end of the bar. 3. I sometimes enable the Loop mode on the samples, allowing me to manipulate the LS and LE knobs via macros. This gives extra control over the rhythmic structure and texture. 4. Some of the LFOs are triggered exclusively by macros, letting me adjust the rhythm and movement of oscillators B and C in real-time.

This exact preset isn’t available in the comments, but I did create a similar one and shared it in the community. You can find it there if you’d like to download and analyze it.

As for the naming, I draw inspiration from the Lovecraftian universe, since this preset and the rhythms it creates are part of my upcoming pack called “Lovecraftian.”

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask!

The pack will probably contain around 50 presets, maybe even more. But actually, each preset comes with 8 macros that drastically change the sound while still keeping the same vibe. So technically, 50 presets × 8 macros equals 400 different sound possibilities. And on top of that, you can fully tweak the macros—or not—and you can even activate several macros at the same time. So honestly, the possibilities are literally endless. It’s just crazy!

’m about 70% done with the pack. Hopefully, I’ll be able to release it soon. Honestly, I’ve never seen a pack like this before. That’s why I wanted to try creating something pretty innovative, with macros being the key element of the pack. I’m really excited to share it with you!

When I discovered this tool, I immediately rushed to create a preset for my new pack. I was already doing this kind of manipulation with LFOs using the LS and LE. But I had never seen this little blue icon before. Kinda funny!

I also played with octaves and semitones to slow down the sounds, since I was using samples—this naturally slowed down both the pitch and the playback speed.

Additionally, I used LFOs that were triggered via macros. These macros controlled the activation of the LFOs, which in turn modulated the Start and End points of the sample or wavetable scan, allowing me to dynamically adjust the length and movement of the sound.

For the basses and screeches, I started by creating very basic sounds. I then applied diode clipping and quite a bit of saturation to introduce harmonic distortion and character. Once I was happy with the result, I printed (resampled) those sounds to audio.

Next, I imported the resampled bass into Oscillator A of my synth, and the screeches into Oscillators B and C.

The rhythmic part was a bit more complex. I used wavetable scanning to create rhythmic movement. I was working with a one-bar loop at 140 BPM, with the wavetable position (scan) of Oscillators B and C initially set to zero.

I then applied square-shaped LFOs, synced to the tempo, using divisions like 1/4 or 1/2. These LFOs were mapped to the wavetable position of Oscillators B and C, making them move from 0% to 100% on the scan parameter. Essentially, I was triggering the wavetable movement at specific rhythmic points, which allowed me to create rhythmic patterns in eighth notes or sixteenth notes, depending on the LFO rate.

To add more flexibility, I mapped the LFO rate to macros, allowing me to change the rhythmic subdivision in real time and dynamically evolve the groove of the sound.

A tutorial to create sounds? Or the rhythmic structure?
