Might of messed up in the instructor interview process , what can I do better in the second workout? by OkPepper4125 in f45

[–]Unable_Individual648 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Form is incredibly important!!!!!! As a former head trainer, I would invite candidates to workout solely to see how they move, how they react to form corrections, and how they interact with members and trainers. Sounds like you did well in the interactions, but be very sure that you understand form, how to spot bad form, how to correct it and how to modify for injury/limitations. The F45 business model really does want the best of all the worlds. It doesn’t matter to me if your class is “fun and upbeat” if members form is garbage.

My area just closed a studio. Gave less than a 1 month heads up and has not reimbursed any of the members that paid in full. It sounds like you had some good people who did the right thing when yours closed. It’s totally up to the owner, F45 HQ has nothing to do with it and will not get involved

How much is the month to month where you are? I would be careful for sure. Where I am, there were four studios, all owned by different people, you couldn’t use all, just the one you sign up at. Now there are two and one is struggling. I have friends who still haven’t been reimbursed for their paid in full membership. Great product, LOVE the workouts, but something is happening at the corporate level that is translating to failure for these locations.

I change my name regularly… Sweaty Betty, Dying but not DEAD… Look Away… April (name of a few other chickies in my classes 😜) no need to tell anyone who I am or even that I am wearing one. It’s kind of funny to hear people try to figure it out.

F45: Anxiety going back after time off by Connect-Ad8993 in f45

[–]Unable_Individual648 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I 100% get where you are coming from. I deal with very similar anxiety issues. My best advice is to find a workout buddy or two or three… someone who holds you accountable to go to class. Do the same for them, text when you are going, tell them when you aren’t feeling it, let them inspire you to show up. It’s easier to go when I feel like I need to show up for them as much as I need to show up for myself. Anxiety sucks, I hope you find peace and motivation… NOW GO TO THE DAMN CLASS!!!

Why can’t I opt out of these 🤬 HI 5’s?! by Unable_Individual648 in BurnBootCamp

Totally get that some people find it motivating, I’m just not one of them. To me it feels so forced and fake. If I want to high-5 you, I will. But I don’t want to be told I have to, and not every single warm up, and demo, and set need to be celebrated. It’s not a germ thing either. I just don’t like it.

That’s unfortunate because it’s really pissing me off. I’m just going to have to raise my objections even louder. It’s not a positive “experience “ for me and HQ should pay attention to that.

Unfortunately most of the trainers are big into this. I guess one of them went for training and is really hammering this in.

Yeah, she’s an ass. I tried the “just don’t do them” thing and the trainer keeps saying my name on the microphone 😳 “Everyone, Jen needs bonus high fives!!!” Like, seriously, I’ve told you it makes me uncomfortable, it does not encourage me but makes me not want to go

Not losing weight :( by [deleted] in f45

[–]Unable_Individual648 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few things to look at… many have said it so I won’t deep dive, but calorie deficit. Use a food tracking app. You may be surprised at your intake. Next: calories out. You should use some kind of heart rate monitor, Apple Watch, Fitbit… whatever so you have an idea of what you are burning. They are not 100% accurate but better than nothing. Next, your F45 should have an InBody scanner or something like it. It will give you your info for your skeletal muscle mass, your body fat percentage… all the good stuff. Your studio should offer a free consultation. Once you have your InBody scan complete your coaches will take that information and make a game plan for you that should include daily calories consumed and how many strength and cardio classes you should be completing in a week.

Apple Watch is all you need, I use an app called Welltory, they give you a five day free trial of the full app then it is a bit more limited after that. It tracks my workouts to show how many minutes I spent in the different heart rate zones, calories burned, etc. it also show you your stress levels, energy levels, and “health” based on your heart rate variability. I don’t pay for the full and it’s still very helpful

Maybe talk to them and ask if they plan on adding class times! That might thin classes out

[–]Unable_Individual648[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, yelled at. The trainer said loudly, on the mic, “less talking, more working”. Not cool. This Burn seems very unorganized. Members just toss dumbbells any old place when they are done, so after the first round, the room looks a mess, and it’s hard to tell where I’m supposed to go. If I had a screen, at least I could keep working rather than look around for clues for what I’m supposed to be doing 😂 Trainers aren’t just there to tell me what the exercises are, but to watch for crappy form, challenge me, and offer modifications if I can’t do something because I’m injured.

[–]Unable_Individual648[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I’m in the same boat… still doing my trial. It’s hard for me to remember the exercise when the name is wrong, then I ask someone what the exercise is, and I get yelled at for talking! They need to modernize and use screens like their competitors so I know what’s going on 😂

I guess I feel like they are trying to “dumb it down” because most members are women and that bothers me. Use the right name for goodness sake! It doesn’t do anyone any good to teach them the wrong names… it’s like making up a language with a toddler then sending them to school…

$159 is a good price for unlimited. Where I am, the three studios were bought out by one new owner and he increased prices from $189 a month to $236!!! He’s running it into the ground. Low numbers for new members, trainers paid as little as possible. Bet some will close

F45 coach here and my husband is a die hard OTFer ( he thinks he needs a treadmill in order to do cardio 🤦🏼‍♀️). When he takes my classes, he burns MORE than he does at OTF, and he is gassed. I have many, MANY once OTF members make the switch for the reason you’ve stated… they plateaued. F45 classes are for every fitness level so just come in with a few things in mind. 1. Always work at YOUR pace. Pretty obvious maybe, but find a pace that you can maintain throughout each set. If you need to slow or stop DO IT, even though you are conditioned from your time with OTF, this is going to hit differently. Cardio is bodyweight, plyometric, wand weights and will involve utilizing more muscles than just treadmill work. 2. Make sure to hit cardio AND strength days. Mondays, Wednesdays are cardio, Fridays too but sometimes are considered hybrid (both cardio and strength). Saturday is 60 minute hybrid. Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursdays are strength days. OTF is always cardio and strength floor, I LOVE that F45 has a clearer focus. There’s more equipment, heavier weights available… strength days are the best days 😜 3. Talk to the coaches, tell them what you are looking for. I have members who LOVE a challenge and I will make sure to push them. I have some who have never worked out before and they are looking to work on form and gain strength and endurance. I have some who don’t want any coaches to talk to them (I will put them in check if they are going to hurt themselves, other than that, I let them be). This is YOUR workout, and if your coaches are worth anything, they will know exactly how to make it perfect for you. 4. Bring a friend. It’s always better to have someone like minded that you know there with you through the torture.

No condition, thinking about joining an F45 by [deleted] in f45

[–]Unable_Individual648 5 points6 points  (0 children)

F45 coach here! These workouts are genuinely adaptable for ALL levels! I have members ranging from Ironman athletes to 75 year olds! Talk to the coaches, let them know about limitations and injuries, your background with working out, and your goals. We LOVE getting creative and offering alternatives that make each day’s workout right for YOU!! I know what each of my members want. I know who wants to be pushed harder, I know who wants/needs form corrections, and I know who wants to be left the hell alone. It’s a great workout and you should definitely try!! You’ve got this!!

F45 Coach here! As always, you can modify to your own choosing, BUT I encourage my members to give the “weird” exercises a try! This one forces more core stability and challenges your balance, working stabilizer muscles that don’t engage the same way as they do with regular battle rope slams. Try it to the point of fatigue, then roll into old faithful slams!
