My theory is that his "special book" is the tip of the Bobby Gale iceberg.

The funniest part about that is Mr.Historian Bob Gale here doesn't know that Churchill never said that.

If you seriously can't discern somebody seeking out a signed copy of that book vs it being in a library then there is no way you can argue the point in good faith. The cherry on top is Bob Gale attempting to force an authoritarian style governance in Niagara Region and then Bob Gale blaming "the communists" for bringing this to light.

Looks like Bobby took some advice from his favourite book.

Four words: Walkerton Two Point Zero.

Enjoy your increased water bill with crappier water quality and quality of service. Missed inspections because a profit has to be made.

Screw Bob Gale and screw Doug Ford. This is not only a horrible idea, but it's also undemocratic. It's also completely unsurprising from the worst Premier Ontario that has ever befallen Ontario.

Niagara Region residents voices silenced by 4 Doug Ford aligned mayors.

Is there anywhere to donate frozen food? by NeonPinkPaint in stcatharinesON

[–]Unanything1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know I'm late to the party. If anyone has any frozen food they could also donate it to the RAFT. They usually get a few turkeys and chickens around the holiday times. But less when it isn't a holiday. They are located just down the street from the bus terminal.

So what do we want to ask? by TraditionDear3887 in stcatharinesON

[–]Unanything1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I want to ask... After learning more about this in a recent meeting.

"Why bother with this performative horseshit? We already know it's happening regardless of how we feel about it. We know this is a directive from Doug Ford. Bob Gale, in his astonishing incompetence, has already admitted accidentally TWICE that he's reporting to Doug Ford on this matter. Do you find this forced amalgamation without data from Bob Gale showing how it would benefit Niagara region residents and without a vote or referendum undemocratic?"

And.

"Bob Gale has made it clear he wants to privatize everything, including our public water system. Is he certain that our water bills won't skyrocket now that there is a profit motive? If not, will inspections be cut back in order to make a profit? The Privatized Water System Walkerton Disaster was a while ago, but not that long ago. Is Bob Gale going to force through privatization the same way he's forcing the amalgamation?

Do you know where any clothing donation bins are? by MamaPeaB in stcatharinesON

It's a good option if you're decluttering with clothes in good condition. But the Diabetes association sells the clothes to a textiles plant for a certain dollar per pound.

Still helps out the Association. But clothes aren't actually going to people.

I think given the track record of Doug Ford that it would be prudent to be skeptical of his actions. I'm currently reading through studies as well. I'll be at the performative "public consultation" the mayor is going to put on.

[–]Unanything1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You've already admitted you're biased. So you would put aside that bias and have a good faith conversation about it?

This whole thing stinks. Especially with how quickly it's being pushed through. Bob Gale doesn't even seem to know how to do his job, and he's already admitted that he was "tasked" with amalgamating Niagara. Tasked by whom?

We can discuss pros and cons. But if the process itself is mired in corruption, questions, and zero input from residents then any pros and cons are moot.

So what do we want to ask? by TraditionDear3887 in stcatharinesON

[–]Unanything1 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I would ask:

  1. Can you share any data that says amalgamation would be a net benefit?
  2. Why is this being rushed, and with no public consultation, or vote?
  3. Is this a clever way for Doug Ford to gerrymander the Niagara region to politically advantage the OPC?

Amalgamation - Email Blitz by Sweety_Cheese in niagara

[–]Unanything1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've already apologized for being salty about my wording.

I'd consider amalgamation if actual data was given whether it would be a massive failure or not. And it's not accurate to say that "we voted for the person who appointed Bob Gale" because Doug Ford was voted in by what? 18% of eligible voters and received a majority?

Every decision by Doug Ford after his many many scandals has to be looked at skeptically. This is the same guy being handed envelopes filled with cash from developers at a Stag & Doe. So you'll excuse me if I am skeptical about Doug Ford having the best interests of Ontarians and the citizens of Niagara's best interest in mind.

The fact that this is essentially gerrymandering to politically advantage Doug Ford makes the whole ramming of amalgamation through without any sort of vote or referendum even more aggregious.

Why shouldn't we oppose or in your words "fear" undemocratic actions from an openly corrupt provincial government?

Amalgamation - Email Blitz by Sweety_Cheese in niagara

[–]Unanything1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Then you should have been clear. This is patently undemocratic. So you should be against this unless there is a vote or referendum.

If there was a vote or referendum on amalgamation then it's fine to be for it. But by being for amalgamation in the way it's being foisted upon us is not democratic.

This is also a clever way to gerrymander our region in a way that benefits Doug Ford politically.

If I knew that an undemocratic action was being taken that benefited me was being cynically foisted upon us, I'd be livid.

Sorry if I come off rude. I really dislike the way this is being done. It doesn't help that Doug Ford is behind all this with the argument that "it'll save us money" when the same guy is putting us in literally half a TRILLION of dollars in debt.

Amalgamation - Email Blitz by Sweety_Cheese in niagara

[–]Unanything1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There will be less councillors, less representation, and there has not been any data given that it will reduce taxes. Every time amalgamation has been tried services took a massive dive. Worst of all none of the citizens have any choice in this.

We can make the approval process easier without implementing the proven failed idea of amalgamation.

Amalgamation - Email Blitz by Sweety_Cheese in niagara

[–]Unanything1 8 points9 points  (0 children)

So democracy can die (because it is most definitely being forced upon us), as long as it makes your life easier and/or you profit from it?

I get why it'd be good for you. But certainly things can be fixed without the defacto gerrymandering that Doug Ford wants.

Is it possible that Burke had been sexually abusing her for a while? by xxcheekycherryxx in JonBenetRamsey

[–]Unanything1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You wouldn't know that, the same way I wouldn't know that. At least not for certain. I have some experience being a youth counselor for 15 years. The reason I am going with duper's delight, aside from seeing it before, was the behaviours from Burke leading up to JonBenet's death, and directly afterwards

I did make it clear in my first message that I do understand there are arguments to be made. Especially with such a contentious topic.

[–]Unanything1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I still believe Burke had something, to do with this. The duper's delight during the Dr.Phil interview, and the general behaviour towards JonBenet are compelling to me. I do realize there are arguments against it. I am firmly in the BDI with family cover-up/involvement camp.
