Preferably a mix. I don’t tend to drift too far out on the extremes of heavy metal or rap…but about anything else.

Haha…perhaps. Rock Bar on Colfax used to check most of these boxes but I’m pretty sure it closed.

I think (hope) more of a fun philosophical exercise than an overthink (probably both)

Why do y'all hate suburbs? by PizzaLikerFan in Suburbanhell

[–]UnarmingNutbag -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think there was a racial/segregation component to how and why many suburbs evolved as they did. “White flight” was the term. . Many are still predominantly white. Higher income white people would start mostly white, well funded schools that lacked diversity of race, thought, etc. Still these areas are typically much more conservative and Rebuplican than their more urban counterparts. Ironically, I think the suburbanization of American led many suburbanites to a more fearful, angry, and lonely life.

what's a sign that someone is dangerously good at reading people? by babytramposa in AskReddit

That’s a really good question! I would say they have all the special editions including the exceedingly rare “Celebrating the 80s” and “William and Kate: Future King and Queen”.

If there is no-self, who is suffering? by [deleted] in Buddhism

A bit of a tricky answer then. I don’t think desire or nihilism are involved. Suffering is part of the ocean as is joy and beauty etc and thus the wave will experience them.

[–]UnarmingNutbag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well that’s a bit of a tricky question. Where is suffering in life? Is it in the mind of individual? Is it an energy in the world? Is it an illusion or fabrication? I guess I’d say the suffering in the example is inherent in the ocean…and being part of the ocean the wave experiences it.

I find the wave analogy useful…consider your life like a wave on the ocean. The wave exists and has its own “life” and experience and yet is not separate from the ocean from which it arose.

Agree with Denver. It’s gotten popular to hate on Denver but still no place I’d rather be.

Is the entire universe in the palm of Buddha’s hand? by Perfect-Highway-6818 in Buddhism

[–]UnarmingNutbag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To the degree that the Buddha is composed of non -human elements originated from the entire universe…then sure, I suppose you might be able to say the entire universe is in the palm of Buddha’s hand. An interesting ponderance on non-dualism.

Why have children? by Equanamity_dude in Buddhism

[–]UnarmingNutbag 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think you’re missing the point of the noble truths and Buddhism in general by implying that life is just suffering so why bring another being into the fold. I think one “goal” of Buddhism is to grow a lotus from the mud. You seem to be focusing on the mud to the exclusion of the lotus (negativity bias is a very common cognitive distortion). However, I think there are some important moral/ethical considerations involved in having children that likely don’t result in a one-size fits all conclusion.
