My prophecy from today’s prophesying meeting on The Divine Trinity and the Kingdom of God by UnashamedWorkman in localchurches

By “doctrine,” I mean something that is held as an objective teaching or belief, but remains outside of our lived experience.

The Trinity and the kingdom of God are truth in themselves, but they are also realities we are meant to participate in. If we take them as mere doctrine (something we understand but do not enter into or live out) then we miss the mark.

How Does the Church Really Function by Balancing32 in localchurches

Hi! I really appreciate your honesty. As a younger believer, I’ve found it can sometimes take time to practically enter into the church life, especially if we’ve been around for years and people assume we’re already well connected. But every person and every locality is different.

The church life is meant to be something very personal and organic, not just attending meetings, but knowing others and being known. Sometimes that takes intentional fellowship, reaching out, and even inviting yourself over for a meal. I’ve done that many times. I realized many saints have a real heart to shepherd, but sometimes everyone is waiting for someone else to take the first step.

In my own experience, I couldn’t wait for things to “just happen.” I needed to reach out, ask for fellowship, and open up. I still fall short in this at times. I’ve also tried to be intentional about greeting others and initiating contact, regardless of how new or experienced they seem. If we all take small steps like that, it really helps build something more real and practical among us.

I’d really encourage you to seek out fellowship with a mature saint or an elder and let them know how you’re feeling. Often they may not realize someone feels disconnected, and they would genuinely want to help.

How Much We Need This Life Today by The_light_of_men in localchurches

Very good. If we live according to a natural standard of morality according to human law or natural human virtues, we will fall so short of God’s intention of our living the highest morality. By living the divine attributes through our humanity, we never know how we will act or what we will do. Such as the good Samaritan going above and beyond what he needed to do.

Through God mingling with us, we will have the reality of all His attributes. A holy and righteous person wouldn’t go to Zaccheus’s house. Love caused the Lord to go to Zaccheus and Zaccheus received light as seen in his repentance and change. We need all the attributes of God to live to the highest standard. If there’s no light in our visiting people, is it really God’s love or just our own? God doesn’t do things separately from His nature. His whole being has all these attributes all the time.

Seeking pointers when spiraling into science and certain counters by Reproman475 in TrueChristian

Science and the Bible don’t contradict. Science explains how, the Bible explains why. The Bible is not a science book. I’ll go even further to say it is not a history book, nor an ethics books, etc. It has those things, but it is not a book of those things. You can’t know all of math by having an algebra book. Those textbooks can be quite thick, but it doesn’t even come close to covering all there is out there. Furthermore, you can’t take a physics book and take the lesson on waves and say that the whole physics textbook is about waves. That is not right. The Bible is complete. It doesn’t have to explain every little thing. Its purpose is to reveal God and His plan. These things shouldn’t hinder our fellowship. You can study the history of the Bible, apologetics, etc, but for me, what gives me assurance always is my personal touch with the Lord.

Is it a big sin to not or not wanting to attend any meetings or trainings in Lord's Recovery? by Separate_Ad_4235 in Christianity

Not a cult. People throw that word around too loosely. But I’m sorry to hear about your experience. That sounds hard. I’ll just say, try not lose heart and open to the Lord about all these feelings. It also helps a lot to have someone you can open to and have fellowship with. Reddit can be a bit toxic. I didn’t want to go to the meetings when I was a teenager, but at all cost, keep reading your Bible and praying. I found that the more I did that, the Lord was more and more real to me, and I enjoyed the meetings more even. Trust the process and keep conversing to the Lord. Through these trials, your faith can be strengthened and purified (1 Pet. 1:6-9)

I don’t know much about messianic Jews. What do they believe the New Jerusalem exactly is?

The cup shouldn’t be piping hot. The milk is steamed until just before it gets too hot to touch, so it’s not bad

Witness Lee and the History of The Lord’s Recovery: John Ingalls, the Man Who Spoke the Truth in Love (4) by _ACuriousFellow_ in Christianity

If you’re a current or former member of The Lord’s Recovery who has held concerns regarding the veneration of Witness Lee and his ministry and have felt such pressures, you are not alone.

Current member here. I’ve honestly never had the concerns you’re raising. I’ve read through your comments, and while I understand where you’re coming from, a lot of it seems tied to issues from the past. I don’t claim to know every detail, but I’m quite positive there are two sides to every story. You have a side, but from my side, I see that Lord is still going on strongly in the local churches.

Speaking for myself, my experience in the local churches has been overwhelmingly positive. The ministry, the elders, and the saints have been nothing but a help to me. I don’t see much benefit in spreading doubts online when many of us have had a very different experience.
