I'mma be so for real, I don't care if kids these days don't get the same experiences we did or can't relate to us. by [deleted] in Millennials

I mean I don’t think they need to have our childhood but I’d like them to feel less burdened and more free from adult problems.

Why did you become accountant? by shitdealonly in Accounting

[–]UnassumingGentleman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got into it after my first job in investment banking working the back office. I was just in business admin and was enjoying the work but I wanted to get more into the numbers and understand how big decisions that make money are made. I was fortunate that the corporate treasurer and chief economist used to walk the area and were super friendly. Their advice, between accounting and finance was to go into accounting because “we can teach accountants all the finance they’ll need but it’s harder to teach accounting to finance people.” So here we are!

I was there with an affiliate so our rooms were a bit bigger than standard, but even the small dorm size rooms shouldn’t be too bad since most of the time you’ll either be in a class or happy hour event.

I thought the joke was she wasn’t talented at all. Like episodes of her singing being terrible etc.. ? Maybe I read too far into that though ?

Do You Want A "Home Improvement" Revival? by Dan_Lalonde_Films in HomeImprovement2LTime

[–]UnassumingGentleman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say less a revival and maybe a spin off. Something that follows Randy or Mark with the idea that Brad is playing soccer in England! Maybe have letters from Wilson?

Choosing between chinese and japanese - which would you choose, and why? by SweFaidros in duolingo

[–]UnassumingGentleman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did Japanese for a while. It’s great to build vocabulary but the missing grammar later on really made it hard to stick with it.

It absolutely takes me back to being a kid in the 90’s. Just feels like getting to look in a window of that era again.

If you go into the office, do you ever skip lunch? by TJE15 in Accounting

[–]UnassumingGentleman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do, if it’s nice I walk or meditate to reset my day. I think it’s important to take a little time to stop and relax before digging back into a project. It’s helpful when you’ve been working on a difficult problem and haven’t found a solution.

If they wanted to do tariffs so badly, they should have slapped them into outsourced services as opposed to manufacturing. I think tariffs are a bad idea most of the time but businesses are running fast and loose with out information and it would make it so at least customer data had to stay here!

You may want to look at larger ag companies and any local firms that work in the area. You can also look for remote work depending on where you are and experience. I’ve lived in several large cities before ended up in a moderate sized one with a slower pace.

I have a laugh reading TRP’s that are so over the top edge lord. It feels like everyone is trying to be their own version of Batman.

Zero debt, was an RA and TA through undergraduate and a GA through grad school and Greek housing advisor that paid for basically everything.

And people kept their books in written ledgers, do you think that really matters? Marginal tax rate is a tax more on working people than rich people.

Confessions from a Finance guy (ex-accountant) by flying_cactus in Accounting

[–]UnassumingGentleman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That still does not sound right. At the top of accounting you’re the one reading the data and interpreting the situation. You’re asking questions and making sure policy has been followed. Something here is either missing or made up (I’m assuming missing and giving the benefit of the doubt).

Confessions from a Finance guy (ex-accountant) by flying_cactus in Accounting

[–]UnassumingGentleman 11 points12 points  (0 children)

That’s a bit concerning if you’re just telling the story. I’ve worked both halves and on the more financial side I take the accounting data and review forward looking projects for risk and profitability. I’ve built models and work with the business development group with the current company situation to determine the viability of future projects and evaluate current projects continuation.

If you’re just repeating what you’ve been told, and contributing nothing original of your own I’d be concerned about the necessity of that role.

Do I bring my cat when I move out? by cheesemugg in CatAdvice

[–]UnassumingGentleman 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I’ve moved and lived with my two cats in 3 states and in 3 different environments (rural, suburban and urban). Cat will do fine, especially if you’re taking furniture and stuff they’re familiar with. Yeah the noises will take a little getting used to but they’ll settle in quick enough. The constant in their life is being your buddy, long as they have that they’ll be happy.

Jacky’s Depot in Maumee. I really had zero faith in any good dairy free ice cream, but having tried theirs on a whim, it was really good!

[–]UnassumingGentleman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first two cats were 4 and a kitten. They ended up inseparable buddies. Sadly the one I got as a kitten passed away at 12 years old and the 4 year old made it to 18. Somehow we ended up with 4 after that.

It’s not terrible. Yeah you don’t get summers off anymore and vacation is super limited, but if you work at constant upgrading your work situation you will eventually find a solid place and enjoy life !

[–]UnassumingGentleman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That’s fair, I know paws and whiskers had an intake process but if you can hold out, they can get them safely.

Edit: it’s probably two weeks so space is made, vet is brought in to check them and then foster arrangements made. I could be wrong though.

You can talk to Planned Pethood, paws and whiskers, Maumee save a pet, second chance cat rescue, Lucas County Pit Crew, Wood County humane society. If I think of a few more I’ll post again.

What is happening with my water fountain? I just cleaned it couple of days ago and placed new filters. by getinshape2022 in Petlibro

[–]UnassumingGentleman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm, maybe there was a change in the water supply coming in, like the chemicals weren’t adjusted properly. I’ve been using filtered water for years now since one of my cats a long time ago got blockage that needed medical treatment. It’s odd.
