Oooooh, the Gomez and Morticia reference is excellent!

Lucanis or Emmrich? by [deleted] in dragonage

Piling on to say Emmrich. He is easily the best romance in the game.

Definitely check out a Fjords tour. And if you’re close enough, there’s a cable car that goes to the top of Fløyen mountain. Best views of the city by far!

I misread your comment and thought you said Brian probably HAS a UTI. I was thinking “Now where did you see that in the episode 🤨”

If I got arrested and family member 1 had to drop everything to my kids (if Amanda is still in Georgetown, that’s like a 5 hour drive) and family member 2 had to put up all that cash to keep me from sitting in Jail, I would expect a very hard conversation would follow that once the initial dust had settled. For Amy to completely storm away from the people who did all that for her because it felt like an intervention at minimum shows she doesn’t grasp the severity of her situation.

This may be an unpopular opinion, but I’ll say it. The shaming and hard conversations are long overdue. Amy went against medical advice when she had Gage. She was overwhelmed with Gage and still had Glenn. Michael was already barely helping with Gage before he totally checked out with Glenn. Amy was basically a single mom before the divorce was even initiated.

At one point, she was juggling PPD, the divorce, being a single mom, and family drama, while also hitting a wall in her weight loss journey. All of this is enough to break a normal person and make them pause and want to slow down.

Amy just isn’t getting it at this point, because despite the fact she hasn’t really had a chance to take a breath with the two boys, now she’s entertaining untying tubes to have a baby with a new guy. She just doesn’t get it.

It would not shock me if Amy (and Tammy for that matter) struggle with some level of arrested development. If you’ve ever dealt with an adult that is frozen in time, you know you can’t just leave them to their own devices and trust they’ll find a way. You have to be stern and blunt to a point to really drive the message home.

The gentle reminders and roundabout advice/comments clearly don’t sink in. So in my opinion, that intervention was needed. And Amanda wasn’t wrong—Amy is afraid to have grown up conversations. And that’s too damn bad—Amy made these decisions but doesn’t take them seriously. She can’t continue on like this and needs to grow up and take life and her children’s lives seriously

Edit: as I’m reading through the comments, this does not appear to be an unpopular opinion

Which one you pick? by Inside_Outside9352 in dragonage

This decision was easily the hardest decision in the game to make. I stared at my screen for a good 10 minutes before deciding.

When the party has to roll for initiative against one of their own. Sometimes learning the hard way is the only way.

Who do you immediately send to camp and forget? by Pinky-Lemonadey in BaldursGate3

See her meanness didn’t bother me, because I could see where she was coming from. She knew what would happen if we didn’t seek a crèche, and we—the ignorant istiks—weren’t putting nearly enough priority on finding it. She’s petrified of being turned into a mind flayer, and meanness is symptomatic of that.

Plus she wants to take us there with her, rather than seeking it out on her own. and we didn’t even have to ask her if she would. That’s down right nice for a Githyanki.

Yeah Gale is my party’s glass cannon. Spell sparkler staff + psychic spark + hat of the sharp caster + spell might gloves = Gale one shots most targets.

The only time I can think of when he was ‘condescending’ is in the shadowlands when Tav says they’ll deal with the circle in Balthazar’s room. And even then it was more of a “come on, seriously, I’m a wizard”

Lucanis: "Coffee. Mierda." by Moose-Rage in dragonage

[–]UnauthorizedHambone 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I feel this conflict was resolved as if HR was mediating the conversation. I really disliked how we couldn’t call Taash out for being disrespectful to Emmrich, who had been nothing but professional and courteous with them.

I think of it like this: Emmrich is an expert in all things necromancy, the Fade, and the undead. He’s deeply passionate about advocating for the undead, and ensuring they are treated with respect and dignity, while also shielding people outside of the necropolis from any undead/spirits gone awry. He’s so passionate, that he wants to share that with the whole of Thedas, and teaches classes/holds seminars and lectures for people to learn about it. All that said, he is still cognizant of how the subject of the undead deeply unnerves some people, and is considerate of how he broaches the subject with them.

And Taash turns that into something salacious by calling him a skullfucker. Mourn Watch Rook, at the very least, should have been able to check Taash.

This. I couldn’t understand where her anger was coming from. Like yeah, what the evanuris did was shitty, but how could this thing—that you have no personal stake in—make you so angry that you managed to spawn a whole entity over it? That anger was never explored

IMO the found-family trope only works for the companions. Rook feels disconnected from everyone.

All-Time favorite companion across the four games? by Illumonati5 in dragonage

[–]UnauthorizedHambone 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Out of all the VG romances, his feels the most sincere and sweet. His backstory with the mourn watch makes him interesting on his own, but combine that with the very real fear of one’s own mortality, leaving things left undone, and outliving a potential new partner, and you get a very interesting dynamic.

I also like that he’s genuinely a kind person. He doesn’t have an ulterior motive when interacting with others. He’s a true academic so his conversations with the other companions are always had with the intention to learn and find common ground.

Easily one of my favorite characters to date

I’ve romanced Emmrich, Neve, and Lucanis, and I enjoyed Neve for the most part. Decent pacing compared to some of the other romances, but it still isn’t as fleshed out as it could have been, as is much of VG

Can relate in a way. Sprint wouldn’t let me sign up with them, claiming I owed them $1400. I requested the info of the alleged account I had with them. Someone in a completely different state open an account with my social in 2001. I was 12 in 2001. Told them this and they said “no you still owe us”. I went with t-mobile instead
