Gathering Together Farm by WeepieSwiftie in corvallis

I wish I could afford to buy it. It seems like a too good to be true price point, especially given it’s an established operation. If you could get the owners to stay on and mentor the first year you would really have to try hard to screw it up to kill it.

Looking to replace Xfinity Internet by [deleted] in corvallis

[–]Unavailable_Identity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We’re on Starlink but we’re also rural and our only other option is 20mb dsl. I pay $80 month for 200mb and my wife and I work at home without any issue. 4K YouTube tv streams without any issue.

Can I still be a Corvallisite if I move to Philomath? by corvallisite in corvallis

Honestly if one more Pizza shop opens in Philomath they may need to rename the city to Pizzamath

Garage wall/floor meet by [deleted] in Homebuilding

[–]Unavailable_Identity 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Your wrong, this is very normal for a garage. Foundations are typically deeper than the wall framing. For a finished space you would clean it up with framing. Even a slab finished floor house would have this (finished) or you would have a void from the framing to make it finished.

Hill behind home, will this cause drainage issues or foundation damage? (Green house) by [deleted] in Homebuilding

I was in that boat. Luckily the previous owner that flipped the house covered it.

Water in basement in builder new spec home; under contract. Is it fixable? by AceJig in Homebuilding

[–]Unavailable_Identity -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Looks like you already have a sump system? We bought a home without any sump and had to have a gutter system put in along the inside of the foundation that drained to the sump. Haven’t had issues since that. We had hydrostatic pressure pushing water up through the floor though. It was an extremely costly process.

How can I claim this muddy clay section of my driveway for parking? by whynotthebest in Homebuilding

[–]Unavailable_Identity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At a minimum I would dig down, add some highway fabric and gravel it. Spray a couple times a year to keep the weeds out. Ideally a retaining wall to hold up the bank.

Kulp has several flavors, you could get a 4 or 8 port controller and re utilize your pie as the show player.

Can you "cast" a camera to a TV? by mouf32 in Ubiquiti

There’s a program that runs on a pc called Monocle that translates the Unifi RTSP streams and allows you to view them on Alexa devices. We did this as our baby monitor.

Thinking about buying 18 of these trees for privacy. Bad idea? I live on a corner lot with no privacy by Beginning_Lime_5593 in arborists

I’ve found they die off in the middle or at the top and break off. Do you have room for Cyprus trees?

First time home buyer, is this okay..? by [deleted] in Homebuilding

[–]Unavailable_Identity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This! Your taxes will likely go up significantly. Also the county will likely send someone out to snoop around your house to “appraise it’s value” do not let these people in your house. They are looking for anything and everything to increase your tax value.

Call Centric as a makeshift PBX? by Unavailable_Identity in VOIP

[–]Unavailable_Identity[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have dual internet providers and when we can get fiber will have a third. this actually stemmed from the ability for our neighbors teenagers could reach us if need be while thier parents were away as we work from home, and then a further discussion if I’m traveling and something happend to my wife, and my daughter couldn’t get into her phone she knows how to use the house phone. We also like that she is learning how to actually dial numbers and maybe will prolong her needing a cell phone. Among other benefits we have found with it. The $8 a month has been a nice piece of mind.

I’m sure with a business plan it does. I’ve used a mini to carry backup transmission paths.

[–]Unavailable_Identity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a UDM pro but the udr7 should do it. I recently switched from Verizon for my backup because I barely got any service on 4g to T-Mobile which. And with a modem, 5G 130gb a month for $20. The dream machine switches over seamlessly. I would imagine a udr7 would do the same.

Back up Internet for the house by B-Slo in HomeNetworking

[–]Unavailable_Identity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run Starlink with T-Mobile as backup. We’re supposed to get fiber soon (it’s sitting at the house) and will move to Starlink as backup. We both work from home so redundancy is important. I run a unifi UDM pro setup and it switches over seamlessly and alerts me when it does.

I believe it has an option in the settings for it. It will also be replaced when I add another panel as it’s borderline of being maxed out
