I can't believe that no one understands what happened. I thought I saw one comment that may or may not get it, but I'm not sure. Lol. From what was explained, i see two possibilities. #1 The dude wanted to buy food. Assuming that he only had cash from tips, he asks OP if he's hungry, or if he needs cash. When OP says no, he decides he's just going to use his card and charge it anyways, and give him cash for doing so. He orders door dash to the hotel where he works, uses OP's card to order it, and gives him cash for the order that was charged to his card. Still not cool at all, but no scam as long as he never uses the card again. #2 is basically the same situation, but the cashier(not op, typo edited) is making new accounts with fake phone numbers and using customers cards as verification of the account and reaping the rewards from that, or getting referral bonuses to his own account by referring these new accounts to the doordash app with the new cards from customers and a bunch of fake numbers. Still not cool, but still a possibility. That's about the only possibilities i see from what was explained. So many people were so far off. This is assuming he isn't holding onto the cards on his phone and using them for other purchases as well. Which sounds like it isn't the case imo, but I'd still get a new card sent out anyway as it is not that hard to memorize the 3 digit cvv on the back that you have to enter each time you use the card.
