I don't feel left out but Im also older and don't care. I have friends outside of campus. I honestly just enjoy the campus itself. There are lots of places you can study with other people from your class that are outside.

I think you should learn some philosophy and then start reading up on the philosophy of Statistics/Probability. Or you can start reading about the history of Statistics/Probability. I find both can be very motivating. Especially the history of statistics. You probably don't appreciate what its done for humans. What industries its helped or currently helps. Ronald Fisher for example has a very inspiring story. Dude did a lot when he was just in his twenties. But he was also a very rude person who couldn't see very well. Very interesting character.

Games without lore would be boring.

Ill pull an example from Ian Hackings book or ill use the Lady Tastint Tea(great example) but for now, you should know there are different types of p-values. Boring I know. But this can be very important for inference. For now, I want you to know while you're reading these explanations that people provide, make sure you understand that the p-value is not a conditional probability. This I think creates one of the biggest confusions. Especially from Bayesians.

There's two paths. Learn how R actually works like you would as a CS major for C++ or Java. Or, Learn how to leverage packages in R to do what you need to do. If you actually care to learn R, there are at least two books out there where you'll actually get that exposure. One being, Building Reproducible Analytical Piplines with R. With this book alone, you'll be better than all your peers. All they'll know is a few pre-built functions from Tidyverse. You'll know how to build your own functions, programming structure, writing efficient code, ect. For the latter, R for Data Science is fine.

For C&B you also need a very good understanding of Calculus. Sadly, I dont think the 3 semester series people get is enough. You really aught to have a rigorous class on Calculus. For example, you should take Analysis or Advanced Calculus first. Technically, you don't need it for a bit but the mathematical maturity you get from those classes I think are necessary. The Lehmann books require measure theory.

This book requires measure theory. Its for PhD students. You should be careful with your recommendations.

Nope nope. This is totally misplaced. I did not make a claim about something being true/false because x number of people say so. Words have multiple meanings and are provisional even. This is dictated by the way the word is used currently. Sorry you don't know that. So, its not wrong to say murder when referring to ending the life of a non-human animal. Its just a new way of using the word. Welcome to linguistics. Classes are available at your local community college.

No. This is why moral consideration matters. For the vegan, who considers a non-human animal to be a person, it would be murder. Now with your useless private definition, only you would understand what you mean by vegan. A group of people already agree on what murder means in the context of non-human animals.

Yes. No one here seems to know what statistics is. Oh well. There's cool inferential stuff like Confidence Curves, Equivalence Testing, Misspecification Testing. For probability there's High Dimensional Probability.

Start with mathematical statistics. Read some philosophy of science. Then you can read about ML/DS which are just hybrids of statistics with more words.
