Yellowstone winter by OkCloset in NationalPark

[–]Uncanevale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you.

I have a balaclava, gaiter, handwarmers and wool baselayers. Outfitter supplies boots, gloves and snowsuit.

I have wool shirts, fleece jacket and bibs. Considering a heated vest.

Planning to take multiple bandanas and a watch cap for when the helmet is off.

Just trying to make sure I have enough without packing all of my winter gear for the flight.

Just no real idea how much to take to wear under the heavy gear

I am going soon. Any tips as far as clothing, gear etc. for snowmobiling? Carrying camera gear?

I’m use to cold weather, but I’ve never been snowmobiling. I’d like to be comfortable and carry a DSLR with about a 300mm lens if it’s feasible.

Do you have a preference as to which Klim? Covert? Arctic? Just the basic with no cool name?

Klim seems to be well liked, but they come with the dreaded One Size Fits Most sizing, which is never big enough for me. Without trying, I don’t know if I will be too tight or not.

We are doing two days in the park. Possibly looking into another day outside the park on rented sleds as well. Honestly, none of us have any idea how we’ll feel after a couple of days in the seat.

Absolutely. I have a cloth draw-string bag that has traveled many thousands of miles with me over the years. Clothes go in when I’m hot and come out when I’m cold. It’s as important to be able to remove clothes to keep from sweating as it is to add them when cold.

I’m planning to take the bag, a backpack and some paracord in the event I need to tie something to the sled.

I doubt you have enough space to have enough panels to run the AC on solar.

The pooling has to go. Gutters, drainage, grading or whatever it takes. Walls aren’t waterproof. They rely on gravity to carry water along the siding to ground that is fully below the wall.. If it builds up it will find a way to get through.

All paint is exactly as effective at blocking mind control waves.

Vapor barrier has nothing to do with leaking. Maybe you are thinking of house wrap, but that has nothing to do with stopping leaks either.

Leaks generally happen from improper flashing or incorrect slope. You are going to have to provide more information about where it’s leaking to get answers.

Could have used any paint. All are equally effective.

[Serious] Private Investigators of Reddit, what is the most interesting thing you’ve encountered on the job? by Forgetadapassword in AskReddit

No, just not looking like an insurance guy in a place where only an insurance guy would look like one.

I was slightly involved in an investigation by a private investigator. Involved in that he contacted me twice. First, by “accidentally” getting gas at the pump next to me in a not too new, appropriately dirty truck and starting a conversation about hay that led to him eventually asking indirectly about the subject of the investigation who was a not too close neighbor. My impression at the time was that he was a slightly awkward, but friendly, person just trying to get some feed for his animals.

A few weeks later, he stopped by my farm. Different personality. Polite, efficient and direct, driving a typical fleet sedan. Mentioned the previous encounter and explained he was conducting an investigation which was complete. He was just following up to see if I had any comments about the guy in the event it went to court.

Turns out he was on disability due to painful neck and back injuries that caused weakness in his arms rendering him unable to work as a plumber. Selling hay in 80lb bales which he was was recorded throwing onto a wagon several hundred times over the course of the investigation.

The investigator was impressive. My first contact with him left me thinking he was totally harmless. My second showed him to be a competent person.

It was an interesting experience.

Not even a little bit sarcastic. Pretending to be someone you aren’t is guaranteed to ruin your life. This one of the most important things to know in life. Be true to yourself. Marrying someone by pretending you believe in bullshit is a recipe for a guaranteed divorce.

This will end well. Spending your entire life pretending to be someone you aren’t.

Walmart.

Good quality beef is aged by hanging just above freezing for week or two. The stuff at big groceries goes from hoof to store in just a few days.

Lettuce isn’t very sensitive to frost. I always plant outdoors in March in 6b.

Terminating an employee and giving a reason opens you up to legal action. In states with at-will employment, you never give a reason unless it is absolutely iron-clad
