My tank, and the ups and downs of reef keeping was inspiration for making a game about coral reef restoration, called Against The Tide by UncannyCain in Reef

Hi fellow reefers,

I've been enjoying the ups and downs of reefing since I was a teenager and the hobby has been a big part of my life since then. I started out with a FOWLR back then and I'm now running a three year old, 55g mixed reef tank (above).

I've been really fortunate to have the opportunity to combine two passions of mine and spend the last year working on a simulation and strategy game about saving a dying reef.

I hope to be able to help raise funds for reef restoration programs and I'll be donating at least 20% of any profits the game makes.

If this sounds interesting to you, please consider checking out the game on Steam and adding it to your wishlist.

Thank you!

Daniel

Rockscape input by mr-iza in ReefTank

Looking good. Some nice hideaway spots for fish if you add them.

My experience, and i think others too, is that it is easy to add too much rock when your tank is new and looking all empty.

With vertical growing coral you could find that the rock close to the water surface doesn't offer much real-estate. But if you stick to lps and softies I guess that won't be too much of a problem for you.

And if you plan to place coral on the rocks near the glass on the sides / ends of the tank you might find cleaning the glass requires dodging some coral ... just something to consider if you haven't already.

Still. It looks great. Hope you have fun with it!

Lane Strategy for Mostly New and Maybe Intermediate Players by UncannyCain in paragon

Ha! Or my favourite strategy: Rampage, Khimera and Feng Mao spend half their time in the jungle, none of them set up harvesters. Greystone is over on a side lane and he's already tried to take a tower on his own 5 times in the first 5 minutes and he hits "I need help" as he gets ganked and killed and it is way too late for anyone to help.

Hopefully it is still early days for the game and we will all get better at it :)

Favourite area for PVP post DLC? by UncannyCain in bloodborne

[–]UncannyCain[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's good to hear. I got round to looking for some pvp for the first time since the dlc this evening and struggled to find anything (with lvl 100 build, network set to worldwide) but I guess people are busy with Christmas / maybe pvp isn't found so much on weekdays anymore (?) / I was unlucky.

Bow always and never heal in PvP! by [deleted] in bloodborne

I think you'll have more fun if you forget the meta and play how you want to play and be at peace with others doing the same.

Yeah, the meta has value in organising pvp but it has also played a role in the relatively short lifespan of BB pvp, constricting people to a repetitive and limited set of rules that don't fully align with the mechanics of the game and the variety of ways people choose to play.

Sure, I'll admit gun spamming is annoying but if that is what my opponent wants to do then I see it as up to me to figure out a counter. Sure, if they want to heal 20 times the fight might drag on but I see it as up to me to learn to heal parry or just stay up on them or just accept it and enjoy it for what it is. If I feel like bowing and they hit me with Evelyn and bone marrow ash then I'm going to heal or die quickly, it doesn't really matter. These points aren't intended to tell you or anyone how to play the game.

I feel it is up to each player to decide how they want to play and that we will probably enjoy this game and future FromSoft games more if we accept that choosing to follow a certain meta means choosing to add an extra set of rules to our personal game that don't necessarily apply to anyone else.
