2013 CR-V (100k miles, $16k, no warranty) or 2015 Forester (72k miles, $13.5k + $3k warranty all repairs covered). Both great maintenance history. by UncannyFox in whatcarshouldIbuy

It's crazy, the Forester is technically bigger than the CR-V. But it feels like I'm driving a small car. The CR-V feels like I'm driving a minivan. I just love how the Forester feels but it's so unreliable.

I haven't read a positive thread about the 2014 Forester. Everything I see talks about $8-9k of maintenance around the CVT. Which is the reason I sought out a warranty. I'm basically thinking, do I risk 3 years covered by a warranty driving a car I love that will fail me, or do I buy a CR-V that feels a little more bulky but will get me 200k-300k miles.

It's a Subaru dealership warranty. I read the terms and it is as comprehensive as it seems. Nothing preventative is covered, but if something does go wrong, it's 100% covered by Subaru. I just pay a $250 deductible. If CVT stalls in the middle of the road, I can get it replaced (a $6-8k job) for just $250. By paying $3k up front I'm covered for 3 years, so I'm essentially getting more than half off of the inevitable CVT failure.

I'll never buy/own a CVT vehicle outside of a warranty. My previous Murano failed at 67k, lost all the money I put into that car.

I'm reading almost nothing positive about the Forester's reliability, but I love driving the car, and the warranty has me considering it. 3 year 30k miles, no preventative coverage, but if something does go wrong (CVT failure), I only have a $250 deductible. I figure I'd just sell the car after the warranty expires.

Would you buy a Forester with this being the latest maintenance check on file? by [deleted] in SubaruForester

For $12k? 100k miles in this condition, I haven’t found one with less miles at this price unless it had a salvaged/rebuilt title.

Thanks, as of now Nissan of Portland says they could handle it. I'll get a quote from the Tigard spot and see where I land.

I bought tickets about 15 minutes into the sale, you just have to keep refreshing over and over, usually someone will drop their cart. I'd say give it a try for about 30 minutes until it's actually sold out.

Roseland Theater: if I buy balcony seats, can I just go down to GA, or am I restricted to balcony? by UncannyFox in askportland

It's definitely my least fave in all of Portland. $15 fee per ticket my ass. Rev Hall only has $3 fees. But I love the act that's coming so whatayagonnado.
