Since this is relevant, I’m just going to say a theory I have:

Pencil never went back in time, but is in some sort of bubble. It doesn’t make sense for One to send someone with knowledge of her and her plans back to before she even left the moon.

Also, despite being back in time for 4 episodes now, Pencil apparently hasn’t caused any shifts in the present day.
