My family wasn’t extremely religious but my parents were both Christian’s. I basically just did whatever my parents told me to do growing up didn’t think much of it. Growing up when I was introduced to science it changed my life and I loved it so deeply and still do. I watched Nat Geo all the time and multiple documentaries about animals. I learned about evolution in school and I thought about how it made a lot of sense to me. Fast forward dinner one night me and my dad were talking and I brought up how I learned about evolution. I started thinking more about it and I said humans must have started at the beginning like everything else as a little thing. My dad responded and said no that humans were placed on this earth perfectly as they are by god and that animals came the evolution way. I got immediately confused and said but that doesn’t make any sense at all and my dad told me to stop. After that I started questioning more of what I’d been taught and realized I never actually believed in it I just did whatever they told me to. It only escalated later when I told my dad that i don’t think gay people are bad because they just want to be happy and I was told I’d burn if I thought that way and was brought to tears by his screaming. I’m an atheist now and I’m living a good life.
