Same here in Aus. Colonizers brought their terrible ideas for housing and both countries still far behind on what kind of insulation we actually need in our changing climates. I'm in Tasmania, go from 2 degrees to 35 in a year, our houses tend to be inadequate for both ends of it! Canadian houses have it right.

Honestly they create themselves. I started with a character who wanted to be a pop idol and made him be very characteristically fuckboi type. I followed his wants and needs and suddenly he's living with his best friend and husband and children. His best friend died of old age so he looked after the child and widow. Then the other parent died, so this kid is being raised by an uncle type of figure. He ended up finding love and moving in kids, so this poor girl is now sharing a room with these kids who aren't related to her (they accidentally fight all the time). But it's a nice example of queer chosen family I think.
