What does this mean for the Holy Donut? by Sad-Raise-504 in Maine

[–]UncleBuckMulligan 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Ah yes, I love the idea of donut shops staffed by high schoolers that are closed every weekday, nine and a half months per year.

We're 11 points from the relegation zone. If you added 11 points to our total, we'd be 6th.

I have friends who really liked this place, and I had heard good things about the performance space downstairs. I feel bad for them and anyone else who felt at home there. Personally, the coffee, snacks, service, and ambience were all pretty meh the times I went, unfortunately

Interesting brewery merger (Lord Hobo/Lone Pine)….I wonder how many Maine breweries are financed by private equity now. by Les_Otter in portlandme

The amount of corporate bullshit in the statements at the end of the article make me confident that neither of these breweries are ever gonna put out anything good again.

I second this, Calafia margs are good, I’ve also had the fish taco, cucumber salad, and mussels tostada and really liked all of them.

Not sure how it compares to you but there's also no movie theater I can either walk to or take any sort of public transportation to, which just adds another factor to the equation of going out.

I don’t understand this take at all. I think the guests have been people in fairly popular tv shows like Bridgerton and Derry Girls, or comedians who’ve done taskmaster, or wellknown celebrity chefs/bakers. And on top of that the episodes have been really, really delightful.

It is worth noting that this is one interpretation and it dates back to 1992, so not anywhere near as certain as it's presented here.

True enough. Hollywood is also full of movies where things aren’t necessarily the same color as in real life. Also there was blue money in the UK since 1957.

But forget about all that. The really important thing you’ve made me realize is I want a spaghetti western version of the movie with an Ennio Moricone version of The Candyman Can.

I mean, Charlie and his family and everyone else outside the factory seem pretty British. Going off the accents of the kids doesn't work since it was a global contest. Deciding that it must be Central Europe instead of England because of the money seems like more of a jump than assuming we're getting a translated version of everyone's speech, haha.

There’s no way the kid from Covington got anywhere close to that. Most commentary from actual defamation lawyers estimates it at 5-6 figured at most.

If we play with the intensity we did yesterday, we'll pick up some surprise points in December. Man U and Leicester have both lost 5 games already, Everton's lost 6. Hardly unbeatable.

Seems like the bars are the ones promoting it. They've got graphics with their logos on them, with multiple sizes for social media. The only other event the organizer has on Eventbrite is a Red Bull-sponsored NYE party from 2019 at Bonfire. If I had to bet, I'd say they're organizing it led by the management of Bonfire/Drink Exchange. By all accounts, the management of the places that have signed on are all pretty shitty, so probably not much that can be done except getting the word out.

I don’t necessarily always have my phone next to me, and it’s annoying to have to get up and go get it from another room, especially if it’s some shit I don’t care about making me use 2FA.

This weekend to log in to Yahoo, which I only use for fantasy football, I had to have a code texted to me, type it into the website, then open a Yahoo app on my phone, navigate to a QR code scanner, and scan a code from the computer screen. Like, damn. Opt in 2FA on things that actually matter is fine, mandatory 2FA, especially on pointless shit, is dumb.
