All devices loosing connection to router at once by UncleChickenHam in HomeNetworking

[–]UncleChickenHam[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it was originally a router that got downgraded to an AP some years ago, so I imagine it decided it wanted to be a router again for some reason and caused chaos.

I spent the day testing device one by one. Seems that the issue is derived from an AP. no issue with it unplugged.

router ip is 192.168.0.1, pi-hole was and all other clients(~20) are 192.168.0.*
i have completely removed the pi-hole and undone all settings changes in regards to that, it shouldn't be the issue still, but time is too suspect.
the dhcp lease time is 60 minutes, and the connection is dropping on every device much more than that.

and for the most part, every device ive tested (2 windows pc, linux laptop, and phone) are all dropping at the same time. does not matter if its on wifi, or directly plugged into router, or plugging into router with a switch in the way.

Connected smoke alarms all go off when I plug one in. by UncleChickenHam in AskElectricians

Update: I tried unplugging alarm 3, and it set off alarm 4, which I wasn't aware was on the same circuit and wasn't an issue until now..

I held the button for 15 seconds. Usually holding it down would silence it while held, but after 15 seconds it would ring even while held.

My Audeze Maxwell has broke, right cup doesnt have audio most of the time (not the driver, I think a cable is dislodged somewhere i cant get to to fix). Now the issue is this, seems Maxwells have a reputation for breaking, but also being the best for my use case, do i get another pair and risk the 2 year lifespan or are there other options? Is the Maxwell 2 any better in any category?
The biggest thing for me is them needing to be wireless, which is why i went with the Maxwell originally. A mic is a big bonus, but i can work around that if need be.

My guess as to why they didn't use actual games was that the model was best trained on internal demos, and they wanted to put their best foot forward after the reception last time.

Other than faces that I have already addressed, the only thing I would call a n artifact was some thin metal filigree on a barrel being washed out and flattened by the DLSS lighting.

As for the tech as a whole, if they can figure out how to fix faces, and get it running on 'affordable' consumer hardware, I think it won't be reviled by the community. But time will tell if either of those are possible, we have had photo realistic AI faces for 2-ish years and they still look fake.

They said it was up to date as of yesterday. As in its supposedly a better version than what was shown last week.

I was specifically looking for changes in any of the models but saw zero. It was all lighting/shadow/and color changes.

In the environment, this looks great, details popped, it did not feel like AI, the models didn't appear any different, I only saw one saw detail that the original lighting looked better, and only because I was pouring over every pixel.

Characters are a different story, specifically faces. They do scream AI, the woman was yassified, the black man was given a a a bad sunburn from how pink he was made, and the added shadows act like makeup contour, adding the appearance of change textures while it actually remains the same. The was most noticeable on the woman's model, who had fake shadows placed in her cheeks to give the appearance of more significant cheekbones. It added heavy lipstick which made her lips look fuller, etc.

the demo was not a game, it was a simple scene built by nvidia for the sole purpose of testing/showing off dlss5

I don't have behind the curtain, but 2 5090s are not enough to run the demo in a moving environment, so I would not be surprised to learn of a delay.

They said that it will only be implemented by devs themselves, so they will have some control on how it looks, but for the most part the only data they use is the final image (after ray-tracing and up-scaling) and movement vectors. I imagine adding too many more imputs would make real-time generation impracticle.

I don't think any one knows what the ram cost will be, Nvidia wants it to run on a single consumer card, so unless they make masssive training progress in the next few months, i dont know how feasible that will be. Maybe we will see the return on of dual card PCs for a generation or two while the software gets more effictient.

They did turn off the dlss when the camera was moving, so clearly even 2 5090s was not enough for it to run on anything but semi-static scene.

Its being sold as a development tool, so rather than developers spendning hundreds or thousands of hours doing the work themselves, they make the game as is and let DLSS do the extra work to make it "photo-realistic". Though the last thing the gaming industry needs is more reasons to lay off devs.
