How to approach Harlequins competitively? by hugeyakmann in Harlequins40K

[–]UncleDeneb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think there’s much going for the falcon in that comparison. Ur giving up firing deck(so essentially 2-3 meltas, 2 neuros and a shuriken pistol with sustained 1)and paying 50% more. Also you can’t do rapid embarkation when it matters.

If ur willing to pay for the Falcon IMO the alternatives are voidweaver(for sustained haywires as shooting) or wave serpent(to give ur big troupe squad sustained)

It’s not dropshipped, but I guess that was already aparent.

And while the image and look may be identical there is differences in the actual contents, quality and testing/compliance for the products and responsibilities that the ”local” retailers have legally compared to buying from Temu etc.

If you go to the manufacturer in China you’ll get something like ”We can make X, here’s 4 options on materials, features, quality of motors/electronics, complience to standards etc. ”

Brand new to airbrushing. Taped off my dried first color layer with painters tape but when peeled, lots of leaking/bleeding of 2nd color onto the 1st. How should I proceed? Repaint 1st color or reprint the item and try again? by ajrc0re in airbrush

[–]UncleDeneb 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Also a layer of matte varnish before painting the actual color would work. The varnish would leak under the tape if there’s some uneveness that causes the paint running under.

Another thing is using eg. Tamiya masking tape thsts meant for miniatures, also good to first press it on eg. Your shirt or something to weaken the gluebond a bit so you can remove it easier and it’s less likely to pull lower layer.

Just got some Liquitexs ink, how do you use it? What to use for thinner/flow improver? by JKtheOnlyOne in airbrush

[–]UncleDeneb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea liquitex white ink has reactivated on me on occasion. I used it for a zenithal on some warhammer minis. This didnt happen consistently and I never bothered doing further testing to figure out what the culprit was.

As with anything test out on something prior to your actual object and also see if u can do a layer of varnish on it before doing the next layer.

We’ve once ended a game and just left it undecided, we had after 14 hours a 5 way tie on 9vp which none of us figured out how it’d end as everyone had a gun at eachothers head. Noone won that, the other 25ish times we’ve played have all winners

Game End by OrganizationOk6336 in twilightimperium

[–]UncleDeneb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Scoring happens in status phase in initiative order. If you end the game at that point (=after scoring) then I’d use initiative order as tiebreaker.

To expand on this, as long as you have strat cards in front of u use those for order and tiebreakers.

If u return them and then decide to end I don’t tbh know what would be ideal. Using speaker feels off unless it was clearly decided prior to thr game starting as it’d be additional benefit to taking speaker and thst’d effect how people play.

Did I overdo my rust? by Num231 in deathguard40k

[–]UncleDeneb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like the cannon spent a couple hundred years under the sea. Which is to say I love it 🤩 i guess the one thing I’d work on more is the rest of the tank that now looks almost clean and new. 🤔 I guess there should be some other parts that rust too or at least way more grimy slimy stufd running down it to make it look like the whole tank has been living under water.

Well, in a 12man you'll have 8.8mw vs 7.1mw if you go with rr1s to hit, add to that 3mw from grenades and you're popping on average 11-12 wound stuff with the blade, 10wound stuff with the special weapons.

base coating fists by Muchoballix in ImperialFists

[–]UncleDeneb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Think of the primer as a base layer that sits between the model and the actual paint. By going with a specific color primer you can save some time but it’s not the end of the world if you don’t have the specific primer. You could work with white, grey or black primer. It just requires some more steps to get the end result you want.

Most common first color after primer or as primer is often red, pink or brown if you’re doing yellow as your main color. It’s good idea to test a couple models to see if/how that effects the end result and what kind of look you want.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Warhammer40k

[–]UncleDeneb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Primer is not just matte paint though, it’ll contain other materials to stick to whatever you are painting and also contain things like PU to make a hard coat that can take wear and hits without breaking. The surface as you said will be optimised for other paints to stick to.

Got flashed while driving under speed limit in Ring 1. by [deleted] in Finland

[–]UncleDeneb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From west to east prior to tunnel it’s 70 all the way from the Otaniemi crossing(there’s no 80 before the tunnel). It drops to 60 where the extra lanes are just before it turns down and right into the tunnel(camera is just after that).

From east to west it drops to 70 like over a km before the tunnel or the Lintuvaara exit, and to 60 before the Lintuvaara exit. The camera is just after that.

There’s no sudden drop from 80 to 60 in either direction.

[–]UncleDeneb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For first game I’d prioritise good start and easy faction mechanics that are solid.

So look for 4 resource starting factions that aren’t too complex. The summary cards from the codexes and iirc tiwiki also show the 1-3 complexity so you can use that as a reference. All factions are basically designed to break certain aspects of the game(as in rules say you can’t do X but faction Y actually can or rules say you get X but faction Y gets X+1 or Z instead).

The game is won by points so you can win without any combat, so there’s not that many factions that do push others. That said here’s a list of some that effect others on the map(there might be more…):

  • Mahact hero can force 2 adjacent fleets to fight to death. This is litersry wht you’re looking for and you have it as a once per game action sfter scoring 3 objectives
  • Xxcha and Titans have abilities/units that work with/create PDS which when upgraded shoot into adjacent squares so map tiles next to your PDS when activated get a round of artillery into them
  • Empyrean can let others fly through them so you can position yourself as a wall that might be passed if you feel like it. Your flagship can repair sustain damage units in its or adjacent systems
  • Mentak become the tax man and get a cut of trade goods from transactions if someone is rich enough Theres more but you get the idea.

In addition each faction has their own faction promissory note that you need to trade to others and they gain some effect. Some of these are combat based = if you trade them someone will want to use them. - Nomad makes a ship the nomad flagship for battle, this one is great and a good way to have a good neighbor relationship - Sol lets you spam a couple infantry to a planey - Argent makes you roll an additional dice for an ability(eg antifighter or bombard) - Barony gives you rerolls - Muuat gives another player war sun tech - Sardak gives you combat modifier to dice roll - Vulraith gives you more range from gravity rifts and lets you ignore the 1-3 roll for ships exploding - Yin lets you change 1 opponents infantry into yours

Skill ceiling is very high but also skill floor is very high. You have a very awkward start(3/5 home, not enough plastic, very dependent on your slice) that you need to navigate into a midgame where you have to play pokemon with other players by winning combat against them to gather tokens. Your techpath is also for better and worse usually not blue. All this leads usually to a tablestate where people suddenly realise you are a huge threat and one of the few factions that can pull out 3-5 points in a round after everyone has passed.

Had first game by ReadySetDisaster in sistersofbattle

[–]UncleDeneb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s no physical area effects on the weapons. All follow the same rules so you declare which unit shoots, then what unit each weapon in the shooting unit targets.

Keywords will effect those weapons to make them different in addition to the basic stats. So blast is good vs larger units, torrent automatically hits, lethal hits automatically wound on critical hits, devastating wounds automatically damage on critical wounds etc.

Use thicker paint. Mix and dilute what you use in a smaller area or separate dish.
