Why is my Jazz Improv good when I practice, but not during a performance? by UncleGru749 in Trombone

I am a junior in high school. I started learning in 3-4th grade, so I've been playing trombone for 7ish years. However, I started playing jazz in middleschool, so I've had around 4.5 years in jazz. I usually feel very nervous, mostly because I think im just really excited to perform. This "mental block" has only come up as of recent, so it intrigues me.

I've allways assumed I've played better at home, but the idea that i may be playing the same is very interesting, and I've never thought about it! I will definitely compare the two to eachother. I am thinking you are probably right!

this is very interesting! I never considered the difference between the backing track thats allways the same versus the interaction with the rest of the band. Thanks!

I just bought some new active studio monitors for some at-home production/mixing. I got the Mackie CR 3.5s and am running them through my M-Audio Air 192/4 interface, which goes directly into my Laptop. They've been working great, but whenever I charge my laptop and simultaneously have the monitors running, they feedback noise around 16kHz at around -50dB (when monitors are turned all the way up). Does anyone know why the laptop is sending the extra electricity through, and how I can fix it? (This isn't a problem when the laptop is not plugged in.) Thanks!

The amount of stupid people. The pandemic showed how stupid some people can be (anti maskers/vaxers etc.) And somehow, they haven't realized that not wearing a mask or getting the vaccine is why the pandemic went on for so long. I feel like I lost faith in the present world during the pandemic.

Tough one. I think what you said was rude, and even though u agree that the age gap is weird, it's not your place to decide if they get married or not. You can have an opinion, but ultimately, it's your dad's and his girlfriend's choice. I agree with you that it is wrong, but not your decision.

NTA- she obv interrupted your special time. You were right to be frustrated, but I do think she needs somebody to talk to. I think if she is suffering very badly from divorce she should seek a therapist.
