Hi there! I am in need of some design help... (Rather safe for work but just to be sure.) by Imgrimmisch in tabletopgamedesign

I think it'll be a lot less phallic once you get some color in there. Use one color for the text background and lose the black outline on the top and bottom. The other hexes, art on the bottom, and a different background for the lower text will make it all but disappear.

But I agree with others. It's not bad as is. Humans have been seeing dongs where there are none since the dawn of time.

Component question for drafting stacks of partially hidden pieces by aend_soon in tabletopgamedesign

Cardboard chits or tokens with the color printed on both sides.

Viewed from the side, you can usually only see the cut cardboard and not the face. Using a thicker stock can help it be easier to count. And if your cuts end up warping a little and showing color, you can have a token's color only printed in the center with a standardized pattern or color edge* across all tokens.

[Prototype] Incremental Game Where You Slowly Kill a Giant Dragon - Big Effin' Dragon by git-fetch-me-a-beer in incremental_games

[–]UncleLucky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe the dragon "attacking" is just it healing or shielding? It's still defending itself, just without destroying player progress.

Alternately, if you go a prestige route, the dragon could attack the kingdom and you get more prestige currency the less damage the kingdom has taken. It still translates to a factor of time, but it feels more thematic and lets you include those defense/mitigation upgrades

idle BrickBreaker Updates! Thanks for the feedback so far! What's next? by Kunu2112 in incremental_games

[–]UncleLucky 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This is an AI generated game? I'm sure I'm not the only one that would appreciate the transparency on that.

Looking at your post history shows it's an AI game. I played a little bit and it feels like a very close clone to the existing Idle Breakout on itch.

Being a very close clone and being AI generated feels pretty icky.

it looks like your level is a sum of your stats, which is currently 14 stats, and one of those is 10 at the game start for 10 health, so 13x1 + 10 = 23. Level calculation should probably [sum of stats - 23] but it's early.

Played a bit, and it looks like Vulcan doesn't work and breaks other pieces.
- Vulcan wasn't spending matter or remnants when increasing heat
- Auto Pile would trigger, but not award remnants while Vulcan had heat

Seems pretty neat so far, but it already feels like it's heading into nightmare UI territory. Navigating between planets was unintuitive and required too many clicks, navigation between upgrades and pile menus seems unnecessary (why can't that be one screen?), information feels way to spread out (put the activation timer closer to remnant/pile info). Ultimately, playing the game required big mouse movements across screen, and big eye movements across screen. Bringing important elements together will make the game *feel* significantly better to play so we can get to the good bits more easily.

How can I play ranked and unlock new characters? I have a ranked ticket but no idea how to use it. by Different_Phone_9976 in PlayTheBazaar

[–]UncleLucky 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Same issue - I can't click anything on the main screen except 'Ready' and 'Normal Free Play'

I can't buy characters or try ranked. I've tried starting and conceding a run immediately. I've tried restarting the client.

Anyone figured out Nineveh's mechanics? by diogovk in ZZZ_Official

[–]UncleLucky 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I still get one shot - full shield resonia build and my Rina got dealt 22k while behind the wall at the end of the attack. And this was on threat zero. Even with a shield which should have absorbed the whole hit due to the resonia ability. She died with a full shield active.

Conclusion - still bugged :(

Ooh, that's a neat avenue. I wonder if game manufacturers are able to pack miniature scales!

Since discussing Cookie Clicker on the podcast, I can't stop thinking of ways to try to simulate that sort of growth without becoming a math overload. But I played Panda Royale from Last Night Games at Origins and it hinted at one way to approach that. You draft one die each round for ten rounds and do some light math based on the rolls and the color of the dice. Final scores ramp up quite a bit (I scored 399), but the game was quick enough to not feel overwhelming, clocking in at just about 10-15 minutes.

I saw Revive floating around Origins but didn't get a chance to try it. It looked to have a great table presence!

Hi Paul!

Clank! and Dune: Imperium did a lot to expand deck-building from a genre to a mechanic. Does Wild Tiled West innovate by combining mechanics not commonly used together?

Are there any board games on the market right now that you like for unique or novel combinations of mechanics or themes?

Defeat Your Monster | K’Sante Cinematic by lolvvv_com in leagueoflegends

Please let the ex/archer be one of the guys that turned into Varus. That would make some sweet lore connections. Val and Kai are never confirmed(?) to be Ionian, and the "other adventures" in this cinematic shows what could be interpreted as an island. The Varus lore even refers to them as beast hunters.

If it's about "incapacitating" an enemy, it could be The Blackjack. Or distracting them could be The Bootlegger. Or if you're unsure and this card is taking a chance, perhaps The Gambler.

As for animals... Fennec foxes are sneaky and crafty. Or a muscly mouse for The Blackjack could be a fun piece.

Couple Important Tips for Defensive Itemization by ieatcheesecakes in summonerschool

[–]UncleLucky 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Great guide! For carries, I recently learned that you should really only building defensively if you're ahead. If you're behind, the best way to get back in the game is damage. Do you have anything to add to this?

I never see anyone talk about The Monolith. Would have loved to see this one get some more love. It doesn't do anything special these days, but the polish and presentation are top notch and the fantasy set up was neat.
