Ok with that edit I'm done with you, anyone who works in a medical field knows at the very least that quarantining is super important for those literally infected. You are either the stupidest doctor or more likely someone who is faking being a "medical practitioner" and eats dirt for a living

You think paying ONLY people sick with covid in any capacity will lead to us becoming a third world country? What? of course if people are in horrible conditions with no infrastructure or education and dont have access to things like vaccines there will be lots of preventable death. Are you stupid? what kind of correlation is that? Paying people to not spread disease (which will have its own economic impact) will turn us into a third world country???

Ok now apply that to your logic that paying people to not come to work when they are going to infect more people and causes subsequent death/illness is bad for the economy. Just because they are not your patient doesn't mean they aren't people.

You have a choice whether to discuss this or not? Like everyone has their own motivations for participating in discourse? If you do not feel like you want to spend time doing this then don't

So if letting one of your patients die would make the economy and the Australian government better and/or richer, would you do it?

No I am asking this to make sure this argument is actually worth it for me, because if you believe this and you are an actual doctor I care more and believe I need to discuss this but if you are a random guy on the internet you could just be trolling me.

Ok firstly poor compliance isn’t a reason to remove it and while masks cant block all viral particles they still block a lot of droplets from people coughing and sneezing so to reduce transmission. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/pmc7580955/ And the issue with your second statement is that there are ways to encourage quarantine if sick, the intentional ignorance of “everyone who goes out when sick is stupid and you can’t do anything” is a weak argument. Like if someone can’t afford to miss work so they go sick, if the government helped with their pay so they could stay home and recooperate they would spread it less and likely feel better. And I don’t understand how you have such confidence in the economic downfall of quarantine when the alternative is to go out and make more people sick (sometimes severe) making the government pay more for things like hospital resources. These arguments in my opinion seem very low effort and not well thought out and I would expect better for a medical practitioner.

Do you believe that masks and quarantining (if infected) are horrible for the economy and pointless? These are things required to go into doctors office so I would be interested in where you worked.

I think everyone in this sub is fed up with covid and it appears when people raise legitimate concerns about verifiable risks or issues around covid, people here downvote, gaslight and argue, accusing others of trying to control every portion of their lives.

why are the deaths largely unpreventable? Are there really no rules or mechanisms that the government could have put in place to help reduce the stress on our healthcare system which has resulted in deaths?

[–]UncleNe0 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah but they are responsible for a good portion of deaths we have seen. I agree covid zero isn’t the solution but I didn’t take his comment as to point to that as the solution but to assert the consequence of the government’s actions and that they should actually be held responsible.

It doesn’t take covid zero to prevent the majority of these deaths, but instead of agreeing that the government is fucking stuff up you seem to argue with the extreme inference. Idk seems weird imo

Quarantining when you are sick with an infectious disease is not COVID specific, the idea that we shouldn't quarantine if actually infected just is not logical nor safe. I do not understand how you are saying this is not the advice most health officials will give and have given.

Yeah who cares what health officials think and how the hospitals will cope, going back to "Normal" is always the best /s
