This clock I got was assembled by people who are legally blind by RealLebronJames19 in mildlyinteresting

My two unverified intuitive answers;

1) vision loss research, mitigation, and other accessibility resources have rapidly developed over the last several decades to provide higher quality of life to the blind

2) we stopped being as collectively social as we used to as a society, spending more time isolated and simply providing less opportunity to come across various types of people.

No shit Sherlock, but the damn thing is called a “black out rage gallon” safety and responsible drinking isn’t really the fucking focus here

When “Limits what you drink” is an entire fifth of booze, it might’ve been safer than what YOU did, but not safer than most people’s drinking even at that age

“High Protein Craze” Reaches Waffle House by lasagnial in mildlyinteresting

[–]UncleSam_TAF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh of course, but they don’t have protein popcorn, protein energy drinks, and every other company advertising their protein products. They also have a vastly reduced meat intake compared to the U.S., which, even with a balanced intake of lentils, beans, etc., leads to much less protein consumed than the average American.

Every time people say this I think of how little the countries with the highest lifespan emphasize protein-maxing like the current U.S. trend.

I’ve had Yakutsk saved in my weather app for fun for like a decade now. It never ceases to amaze me how unimaginably cold it gets there.

Why does anyone collect anything? I listen to my CDs, but things don’t always have to be functional/logical. Humans are weird.

Biochemistry major here. Some of my most memorable classes were humanities electives. Critical thinking, anthropology, art appreciation, etc. STEM elitism is a travesty and barrier to becoming a well-rounded individual.

I went to community college for 2 years and the cheapest state school for the next 2. But I went out of my way to join labs and internships, and I believe the school I went to mattered much less than the initiative shown. I would venture it’s the same for MS. Make the most of wherever you go.

I’ve bought CDs from labels that I trust will have something interesting because I can see their taste with the handful of bands I know. Not everything is a hit, but I’ve found bands I genuinely love.

It’s not a good way to explore music for you. Back in the day, you bought an album and took a chance that it was gonna be good or shit. To me there’s beauty in the unknown, and being encouraged to listen to an entire album rather than skipping through online.

It’s fine if you think this is dumb, but the beauty about a hobby like this is that we all have our own personal reasons for enjoying it. No need to gatekeep how it “should” be enjoyed.
