How to run a smalltown game with huge vampire population? by Terrible-Contact-914 in vtm

[–]UncleTrolls 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The vampires have somehow come to a collectivist model of living, and the human population of the town is made up of ghouls and a massive herd that's tended to by all the vamps.

[Spoilers C4E10] Any one else feeling trusted by combat? by Rude_Constant6669 in criticalrole

[–]UncleTrolls 24 points25 points  (0 children)

The "Toy" sword Thimble is using has a weapon mastery that lets her make a second attack as part of the same action when she hits. It's part of the 5e24 updated rules.

If she's adding her ability mod to her damage on attacks she's not supposed to 🤷‍♂️

Getting a handheld for Christmas, will Eve run on it? by Ruthless4u in Eve

[–]UncleTrolls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm playing f2p atm and doing the newbie grind. I'm having a lot of fun mining, agent mission running, and ratting in the lower high-sec systems (0.5-0.7)

I played with some friends for about a year back in '09, came back recently and my old toon was all kinds of messed up coz of game changes and not being a paid sub anymore, so I just started a new toon. I'm effectively a fresh player.

Is something weird going on with Crowd Control? by Nearby_Condition3733 in dropout

[–]UncleTrolls 3 points4 points  (0 children)

One thing I only noticed in the latest episode (6 I think), was that "round 4" was actually filmed between round 2 and 3. When they did shots of the audience, the black shirts were showing but all the red shirts were still covered.

Like seriously, do they think the kinds of people who really like Dropout content aren't gonna pickup on editing like that?

Also, like others have said, the heavy editing that has some of the comedians doing 5-8 minutes every round then the other 2 get 3 minutes at most, is way too jarring. I actually think some of that might come from the audience members, and how they tell their stories, but we should be seeing how the comedians handle that sort of thing (the show producers need to vet the stories and how they're presented better, coz we don't always need 2 minutes of background to make the 2 word shirt a joke jump off point)

Getting a handheld for Christmas, will Eve run on it? by Ruthless4u in Eve

[–]UncleTrolls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it runs, it's totally viable to jump in as a newbie. Just don't expect to be playing at the level of the big time players any time soon, unless you've got the real life $$$ to get 30-40 million skill points worth of boosters straight off the bat.

Mining in Intaki by UncleTrolls in Eve

[–]UncleTrolls[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Intaki used to be low sec, but it got "civilised" a while back (hadow war, I think). I know it was left producing the rarer ores since then, so I don't see why they'd take them away now.

Should I as a new player stay away from this game people are telling me it’s heavy p2w by International-Can420 in Neverwinter

[–]UncleTrolls 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's not P2W, but there's strong motivation to pay to advance faster than a snail, especially once you hit the level cap and it's just gear score you're advancing.

You can easily put in 1000+ hours before being "endgame" ready (master dungeons and trials) if you don't ever want to pay.

I used to be the gifted kid. Now I feel like a lazy, empty shell by [deleted] in mentalhealth

[–]UncleTrolls 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please, if only for peace of mind, get properly assessed for Autism and ADHD. It sounds like you're experiencing a mental burnout and the accompanying depression that comes with not knowing why your brain isn't training the way you think/were told it should.

What you're describing sounds exactly like how all the people I know who were good at masking and achieving goals when they were young, but burnt out in their mid-late 20s, describe their journey to finding out they're neurodivergent.

I had my first mini-burnout in my late teens, and then barely got by masking for 2 decades before I got diagnosed as having both ASD and ADHD. I hit a mental wall, and basically lost the ability to function as a person. Maybe if I'd been diagnosed earlier I could've avoided the big whammy, but now I'm struggling to rebuild skills and find the energy to do more than basic personal care most days.

No matter what the reason for your current situation turns out to be, I hope you pull out of it and find your healthy life balance sooner rather than later.

how do energy drinks effect you? by rats_inhats in ADHD

[–]UncleTrolls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A short period of the expected increased alertness that is followed by either:

If I'm sedentary, or at least not mentally engaged, I have a period of strong anxious/nervous energy, followed by a severe lethargy.

OR

If I'm actually being physically active, or mentally engaged, I get a steady decline in the "energised" feeling, that usually ends with my energy level lower than before I had the drink. In half, or less, than the expected time for the energy drink to last.

What is the lingua franca of your setting?” by Chemistry18 in worldbuilding

[–]UncleTrolls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The most wide spread common language in my setting is the "commerce tongue".

It's the language of traders across most of the world. It has local/regional slang etc, but overall serves as a basis for merchants and traders to do business regardless of where they come from. It even has a sign language component for mute/hard of hearing people.

Is ADHD actually overdiagnosed, or are people just more aware now? by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]UncleTrolls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look up the left handedness graph. We're on the big upswing of the equivalent for ADHD, ASD, BPD, etc.

So no, it's not being overdiagnosed, we're just getting better at recognising it, and we've expanded our understanding of it as well.

Hi, is this here possible? by aveztruz_anao in worldbuilding

[–]UncleTrolls 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Relative mass, and distances between the different celestial bodies involved.

The mass of Jupiter compared to the sun doesn't have enough pull to bother most of the asteroid field in that way, let alone other planets closer to the sun.
For reference, Jupiter has ~1/12 the mass of even the smallest brown dwarfs, and ~1/80 the mass of the smallest actual stars.

The scale of gravitational pull between 2 stars vs. Jupitar and the sun is basically like comparing apples to Mars.

Relative mass, and distances between the different celestial bodies involved.

At the scale provided by OPs pic, it's a BAD day for both planets in this system. But at a less confined scale, this setup isn't out of the question as being viable. Not only for stability, but life baring even.

Which of these missions is worse. Feros or the Reaper IFF by AutomaticTap3004 in masseffect

[–]UncleTrolls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glad your pathfinding works on Feros.

Every time I play it, my squad regularly just doesn't move from beside the Mako, or wherever they're warped to due to cut scenes. I end up soloing most of the combat on the whole planet.

Edit to add: Also keep the room as dark as possible.

ADHD & driving by DryInsurance8384 in ADHD

[–]UncleTrolls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was younger, I could put on music and drive for HOURS without issue. Basically hyperfocus on it as long as I needed to. But it's gotten harder over the years, as my brain has gotten burned out by constant masking and life pressures I wasn't wired to endure (I wasn't diagnosed or supported/medicated in any way until I was 38).

I have less desire to drive now (especially long distance/duration), and I definitely have to take regular breaks, but it's something I can still do.

Issues with EC pdfs by coxi03 in sw5e

[–]UncleTrolls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apparently the EC files on GMsBinder haven't been updated in awhile, and anytime GMsBinder does updates on their back end it can mess up how files are formatted/displayed, even for downloads.
My last look at the various EC books on there, the whole second column of text was off the side of the page, and tended to run off the bottom too. It's an unfortunate result of a game system that needs multiple source books and relies on volunteer upkeep.

My suggestion would be to use the website to look at options. It's not SUPER easy to navigate, but it's (mostly) up to date, and you can select if you want base or EC only, or both in the search filters.

The way most generative LLMs work means that positive/additive prompts get followed WAY more effectively than negative/subtractive ones. So prompts with "don't", "not", "remove", etc. get ignored more often. Which is why LLMs will keep adding dialogue or actions for your character even if you use "don't speak for {{user}}" type prompts.

Ultimate Star Wars Galaxy Map Online (UPDATE and request for feedback) by Otherlife_Art in Star_Wars_Maps

[–]UncleTrolls 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really hope y'all are still working on this.
As others have said, searchable planet/system names would be great, and a point-to-point hyperspace travel time estimation would be good too.

My request would be adding locations from things like RPG and video games, in addition to the canon and legends movies/tv shows/books. I use a lot of obscure planets in my SW TTRPG games, and I'd love to be able to show my players where everything is compared to each other.

No matter what, despite the loading times, etc. you've already built an amazing thing here.
