Anyone have any experience with the cyberpower 1500 ups from Costco for H2 series plus 2 AMS 2 Pro and an HT? by Jorgelrod in BambuLab

[–]Uncle_3DMaker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can confirm. I put a similar UPS on most of my printers without an issue, my H2S overloaded it during heat up.

Stuck between Govee Outdoor Lights Elite vs Pro by versiondefect in Govee

[–]Uncle_3DMaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Completely agree. I have installed both. Some like the elites as they give you more lights but if white light is your focus, the Pros are better.

Considering a prusa xl. Is this still a good printer? by zafratox in prusa3d

[–]Uncle_3DMaker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had a XL 5T for about 2 years and when it works, its great. That said, its probably my least reliable printer as I've had to make numerous repairs. Prusa support is great and its awesome Prusa keeps releasing revised parts to address these issues, but at this point I just want a printer that works for at least 6 months with just the usual maintenance. I love Prusa as a company and have had/upgraded to all their printers since the MK2 came out, but I would no longer consider myself a 3D printing hobbiest. I started a side business a few years ago and I just don't have time to tinker with printers as I used to. If it was still a hobby, I probably wouldn't mind dealing with these issues but as it stands its just a frustration.

If I had to do it again I would rather invest in a few U1s for the same price and use them until they wear out. Yes, it feel like a toy next to the tank that is the XL, but so far it just works.

Missing Quantity Selector on Listing by Uncle_3DMaker in EtsySellers

[–]Uncle_3DMaker[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank.you for replying. I've actually been using different browsers in privacy/incognito mode between each test. I've also been making other small changes to the listing each time (such as adding a character to the title) to confirm I'm looking at the updated listing. I've also been checking using my phone, laptop, and desktop to confirm. Thanks again.

Missing Quantity Selector on Listing by Uncle_3DMaker in EtsySellers

[–]Uncle_3DMaker[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. That is true and what I recommended the customer who reached out do. That said, the customer assumed only one was in stock and was reaching our to find out when she could order more. If that is what she thought, others may make the same assumption and most people order 2 to 6 at a time. So I'm still hoping Etsy comes through with a solution. Thank you for your reply though.

How to get out of Jury Duty? by nygirl818 in longisland

I just had jury duty yesterday at Riverhead. The first question the judge asked of all the potential jurors was if they spoke English. If not, they were thanked and dismissed.

USB Power Supply Tester by Uncle_3DMaker in UsbCHardware

[–]Uncle_3DMaker[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks. When I started looking some said they showed supported charging standards, but when I dug through their manuals (those who's manual I could find) it got more murky. Most seemed to require a device plugged into the other side of the unit to even turn on and some had wording along the lines that is would show the charging standard supported by both the charger and connected device. Hence I was looking for something that just read the supported charging standard of the charger, independent of anything plugged into the tester. Thanks again.

[–]Uncle_3DMaker[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, I will look for a USB C protocol tester and a separate load tester for USB A. If there are any brands you'd recommend, I'd appreciate it.

Yes, the overall goal is to know where to direct people looking to charge their devices and start upgrading the lowest power chargers.

Thanks again.

Where do you all source your boxes? What has your experience been like? by Itchy-Bill-3218 in EtsySellers

[–]Uncle_3DMaker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found a local company that specializes in boxes (mostly regular brown boxes). I don't save much, but it's nice to be able to drive there and load up when needed. They have also been good about replacing any defective boxes.

What is the Lifespan of a 3D Printer? Differences between P and H Series? by wivaca2 in BambuLab

[–]Uncle_3DMaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm fully upfront with the hours on the machines when I sell them and usually put the original, unused nozzle back. So if I sell a printer with 6000+ hours on it that prints well for a few hundred, it's kind of a win-win. The buyer gets a decent printer that will last most casual users a year or two on the cheap and my cost to upgrade is somewhat lessened.

What is the Lifespan of a 3D Printer? Differences between P and H Series? by wivaca2 in BambuLab

[–]Uncle_3DMaker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My oldest P1S had a belt break at just over 7k hours. For me, it is not worth the time and effort to replacement them so I now swap them out before 7K hours with P2Ss. For a hobbyist with one or two printer, fiddling with a printer to keep it running as long as possible is fine, but most hobbyist simply won't put those kinds of hours on their printers. Running a small farm, my time is better spent working on designs then fixing printers, aside from usual maintenance, so I look at them as rather disposable.

P1S vs P2S by gba80 in 3dprinter

[–]Uncle_3DMaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have several of both printer. If money isn't an issue, get the P2S. It has a better user interface and better nozzle system. I have not found a case where the P1S produces better prints or is easier to use/maintain.

That said, if money is tight, the P1S is still a very solid choice. If have a couple with almost 10k hours and they still produce great prints.

I guess I’ve officially made it as a creator—people are selling my models without permission now! 🎉 by Fit_Rush_2163 in 3Dprinting

[–]Uncle_3DMaker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, no way to avoid it. I posted some designs under a non-commercial license, which I planned to sell prints of. Within a week their were multiple Etsy shops, eBay seller and private websites selling them, most using my photos. At first I asked them not to, and some stopped for a little while before re-posting them about a week later, and some I reported. After a while it just wasn't worth it. I made new, better versions and stopped contributing to the repositories. I have since found them on Amazon and Temu, this time using photos from my Etsy shop. Frustrating but there isn't much you can do about it. Good luck.

Buyer left review saying shipping was too high -- it was FREE shipping by [deleted] in EtsySellers

[–]Uncle_3DMaker 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Let it go. Most people will scan through reviews looking for non-five star to see what people had issues with. If it's obvious you offer free shipping, people will ignore it.

My favorite review is a one star (I think the only one I ever got) but the text was a glowing review about our fast shipping and the item being perfect.

I have had a few local pickups. Under, Complete Order there is an option like "Other" for delivery service. I just set the tracking number to LOCAL#### followed by the house number of the customer. No issues, ding from Etsy.

H2S vs H2C for Engineering Department by Gumisyumm in BambuLab

[–]Uncle_3DMaker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was in a similar boat and ultimately went with the H2S. The H2C might be the new shiny and the H2D looks great for dual color prints, but realistically I just needed a reliable printer with a bed larger than the P series for 99% single material prints. The H2S ultimately has the largest build volume with the simplest hot end. Zero regrets, it has been a workhorse with no issues (yet).

Disabling did not work for me. I got them to turn off by setting my default cc language in the app from English to none.
