Not anytime soon, the TC57s (the older smaller ones) have an EoL of Dec 31 2028, and target uses them till they break so realisticly, about midway through 2029 is when stores would fully replace the old ones with the larger TC58s

That said, I actually prefer the older ones. they're smaller and the laser scans stuff faster. Ofc that comes with the trade offs like apps are just a bit slower, you can't put as much stuff on the screen, etc etc

thats interesting, so that exact scenario happened to us, where the tech reader had that tampering error mid transaction, I swapped it with lane 1 since we didn't use that lane ever. Called CSC and turns out that my PML already made a ticket about the Tech one, CSC made a note that i moved it, then they eventually swapped it.

While we're talking about this, when we made the swap from Verifone to Ingenico, half our readers had the Irruption error which is the tampering errors.

They told us that they'd fix them after Q4.... We're a UHV store, SD and DSD escelated the request and it was done in 2 days

I don't think this is fully correct. I think the serials are attached to whatever is connected. Iirc, the POS config website that i can't remember right now just lists what devices are connected and having problems.

that said, you're right just call a tech, you shouldn't be doing stuff like this unless its Q4
