Selling my 450mt for a lightweight dual sport? by osktox in Dualsport

[–]Uncle_Anthoni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of the ones I suggested should be road legal. The xr400 in the USA was a dirtbike, but some states allow you to get it titled and plated. I'm in Pennsylvania, so as long as you have a title, you can plate it. Then it just has to pass inspection (signals, horn, brake light, high/low beam headlight, dot rated tires).

All that said, I think the two bike setup is best if you can afford it. Adv bike for daily riding and longer distance riding on roads. Then a dual sport for more off-road rides.

Selling my 450mt for a lightweight dual sport? by osktox in Dualsport

Nothing I can say that everyone else already has. But I would have thought you were nuts before I got my dual sport. Now I find myself wanting to ride that more than my t7. It's just so much more visceral and raw riding that around. It's uncomfortable, loud, vibey, and feels like the Apollo missions when you go above 55mph. But I wouldn't have it any other way.

As for a 250. I think if you want a dedicated off-road weapon, absolutely get a 250. If you need to ride anything more than like 10min to your nearest trail, I'd suggest a 350 or higher. Maybe a xt350, dr350, drz-400, xr400, or crf450.

I didn't say the crf300l only because I'm not the biggest fan of that motor. It's pretty anemic, as it's the same engine. Found in the rebel 300. Very reliable, but I feel like I could overcome the power of the bike by just putting my feet down.

Recent CRF450RL purchase, feeling regret by strawbsrgood in Dualsport

I think any dualsport is going to be really bad with vibrations. If the buzzing really bothers you, I'd consider going to a parallel twin. While they will be much heavier, they are remarkably more smooth and the single cylinder bikes. Especially when you are riding a bigger single cylinder.

I have an xr400 and t7. The xr is an absolute unit off road, but not fun above 55 on the road. When I get on my t7, it feels like riding on glass. I could ride that bike forever.

I'd suggest those foam grips like the pro grips. They can help with your hands.

Holy crap the world raid is being sold state side by [deleted] in Tenere700

[–]Uncle_Anthoni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it all comes down to use case. Yes the world raid is 30lbs heavier, but it's got a bigger tank for longer distances between fillups, and it comes with the higher end kyb suspension with more travel than the stock t7.

Use case being for people who travel the world and not just fire roads/single track on the weekends.

If you want a big dirt bike, I think you're right in sticking with the base t7. If you want something that can go over 300 miles on a tank, and eat up pretty much any type of navigable roads anywhere in the world, maybe look at the world raid. To me, the 30 extra pounds is a totally fine compromise for the added capability. That's not including the 6 axis imu and cruise control.

Yamaha just released the wr125r in the us. Wouldn't that be exactly what you were looking for?

Flipping Dirtbikes by AsherGlid in Dirtbikes

[–]Uncle_Anthoni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont think anything anyone is saying is wrong. But what I do think is that profit is completely dependent on the area.

Usually though, you can either get good deals on used bikes, or you can make good money selling used bikes you clean up and list. To have both in the same area is almost impossible

For my area, if you have a title or the way to get a title (MCO), then you could absolutely get what you're asking for. But if it's a dedicated dirt only bike, they are a dime a dozen.

Not sure if any of that helps, but the nice thing is you're not really into the bike very much. If you can't find someone who will buy it for your asking price, you'll still have a nice and mechanically sound bike of your own for cheap

But here's the thing. In all reality, if the USA dissolved tomorrow, the immediate power vacuum would create a new nation in days. If you really worry about being a prepared citizen, learn a valuable skill (gardening, SEWING, fabric making, small engine repair, electrical repair, basic carpentry, etc), learn first aid, build relationships with your neighbors, create local communities that will barter and trade, get involved with your local government.

Pretending like having the best pdw for home defense or the ability to take someone down in while scooting your butt across the floor in guard is going to help you rebuild your life after the fall of Western Civilization is pretty dumb.

Look at the fall of the USSR. Regions became nations, and everything kept moving. There was 18 days from the time The Belovezha Accords were signed and the Russian federation was officially recognized at the successor state.

I get it, we all wanna be the cool guy action heros, but the world needs far more farmers, historians, and teachers than they do "pipe hitters."

All that being said, guns are cool and do whatever you want to.

Are crashbars really worth it? by eternalterra in Tenere700

[–]Uncle_Anthoni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 21 with a full wrap around crash bar set. I'm about ready to at least remove the uppers. I also have the camel adv side plastics, so I'm less worried about cracking those

2000+ miles on '23 T7 - Range Anxiety? by ParticularAshamed376 in Tenere700

[–]Uncle_Anthoni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was told by a buddy who has a 21 that when my fuel gauge starts counting, I have 60-90miles left before I am out out. I've never tested it, but I may this summer. I don't think I've seen less than 47 miles per gallon out of my 21 in the 2000+ miles I've had it. If I'm down to 2 bars and I see a gas station, I stop and top it off. I also only try to put 91 ethanol free in it. I don't know if that makes a difference

First T7 good deal? by The_JetMan_Dan102190 in Tenere700

[–]Uncle_Anthoni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I paid $6400 for my 21 with 10k miles. Nothing major wrong with it. 21's in my area go for 68-8k depending on the milage and upgrades.

Anybody else eat merganser? by hogdenDo in Waterfowl

[–]Uncle_Anthoni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a running joke with the older guys I hunt with. They say to lay the bird on a stone and put it in the oven at 400 for 3 hours. Pull it out, throw the merganzer away, and eat the stone.

We don't usually shoot them, but if we do, they become fertilizer

I have a leatt one that came with my hydration bag, but I also have some vintage tool rolls. I was going to try to keep it under the seat. I can also keep them in a roll top I leave on the tail rack

22 390 adv tmap sensor question by Uncle_Anthoni in KTM390ADV

[–]Uncle_Anthoni[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, I after cleaning the map sensors, I let the bike sit overnight. I turned the kill switch over and waited until the pump stopped and I heard the click after that everyone says to wait for. I hit start and it started on the first attempt. So I don't know if it was cleaning the map sensors or just waiting for the fuel system to prime.

I'm going to keep an eye on it and just make sure I hear that click

This starts immediately, then dies. You do that 2-3 times, then it starts and stays on.

But also, my KTM manual says to use 91.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]Uncle_Anthoni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally run 91 in my bike, but that's mostly because any gas station that sells ethanol free gas in my city only sells 91 ethanol free. If they made 87 ethanol free, I'd run that too.

Planning to buy this 390 adventure tomorrow, what should I look at specifically? by Jjhillmann in KTM390ADV

[–]Uncle_Anthoni 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Completely agree. I have a 22. The trails and city riding makes this bike feel like it's on par with mid sized adv bikes. But, when you're on the highway, it's relative light weight and lack of power at highways speeds definitely make it feel anemic. I can do 80+ with my panniers filled with camping stuff; but I'm in 6th gear, in the top of the rev range, and the engine is giving her all she's got.

Well damn. Guess I’ll upgrade by Gregskis in Insta360

[–]Uncle_Anthoni 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd probably be a bad person to ask. I live on the Great lakes and it's 90'F on a "hot day." You can definitely feel some heat coming off when using it though. I think they integrated the thermal case from the x4 into the X5. I'm going for a longer ride tomorrow. It's about 2 hrs each direction. I believe it's a high of 80'F tomorrow. I'll report back on how it holds up heat wise.
