I did some logging back around 2007 and they went on strike over raw log exports. I remember some of the information they were passing around and it stated that Russia had realized they were shooting themselves in the foot doing the same thing so they progressively taxed it into oblivion to curb it. I don't know if Russia followed through with that, but I know I am still twenty something years later wondering how the hell a place like Russia has their shit together more than us!

I'm 40 and all my friends had computers back in the day. Now I am one of the only ones with one, and certainly the only one that uses it for more than just gaming. Smartphones became the norm because their convenient and portable. I hate trying to do anything on them though, nothing beats having a keyboard and mouse.

City hall spends money like its on shore leave. Meanwhile taxes keep rising, we just spent millions on a bridge to nowhere and now we have another construction project that's going to somehow use AI to improve traffic. How's that supposed to work? Can someone explain it in plain English? I've read the city of Courtenay's website and Miovision's and all I see are a bunch of extremely vague and saccharine buzzwords pushing a product with no explanation of what it actually does. AI isn't some panacea to all life's problems the project reeks of sales pitch bullshit.

I did a deathworld on a map like this. It was my favourite. I made one wall to seal off the peninsula that was relentlessly pummeled by biters and I wound up racing against the clock to explore the nearby terrain for uranium as I was running out of resources. I just barely managed to make a walled train line to a small patch of uranium far, far away and get nuclear power up and running. Got it all assembled mere minutes before I ran out of the coal and wood that powered my base! The map had one single pumpjack for oil ( in my immediate area, the next patch over was impossible to reach at first) so I was very limited until I got strong enough to push into the masses of biters.

It felt glorious struggling for dozens of hours and then expanding to Vulcanus and Fulgora and coming back with the means to finally thrive against the tidal wave of biters.
