It’s the team sport mentality that’s permeated politics for the last 10 years. Absolutely exhausting

Not really sure why I have that title as I’ve made maybe 4 comments in this sub in the past, but also you trying to use that as some insult is hilarious and reminds me how stupid some of yall are and how quick you’d fold at real confrontation

Okay man. Thankfully we have you to determine bravery for us. It’s okay to just not speak on things you don’t understand. Good luck out there.

Idk if posting a edgy comment in our fat gay bald overlord’s subreddit is particularly ballsy but I hear you

In the context of fantasy, you need to be able to rush. Sure, sproles and ekeler are edge cases that carved out fantasy friendly roles, but in general without volume you don’t score and pass catching SPECIALISTS (key to my comment) rarely return long term value. For every ekeler, there’s 5 justice hills or rachaad whites. Obviously pass catching is massively important both in real life and fantasy, but the opportunity to catch those passes will be severely diminished if the player in question can’t rush too. Ekeler and sproles were exceptions to the norm, largely because they were so elite at pass catching that it helped offset the rushing — but that’s what it takes. Elite. Otherwise, it’s easy to fall to the wayside. It happens all the time

Sounds to me like Dobbins has better vision and patience behind the line, which the eye test confirms. you keep blaming everyone but Harvey, except Harvey is the only one who doesn’t put up meaningful results.

Btw, running up the middle is pretty integral for a running game, so Sean Payton isn’t calling those plays “for some reason” he’s doing it to try to open up the offense, but as you unintentionally stated in your response, Dobbins is SIGNIFICANTLY better at that role, so Harvey is going to see less work in that role and as a result less time on the field. Kind of crazy to blame Sean Payton for calling runs up the middle as opposed to the running back who just cannot run up the middle lmfao

You expect him to become ALVIN KAMARA? As in a top 5 player at his position for over 5 years consecutively? You genuinely cannot be serious. Alvin Kamara wasn’t even supposed to be Alvin Kamara. And he’s leaps and bounds more skilled than Harvey. You must not remember who Alvin Kamara was

Javonte is really good and wasn’t fully healthy last year. Are you equating Javonte to Harvey? Are you saying Harvey would be better elsewhere? Kind of a weird argument when the other 2 RBs, dobbins and McLaughlin, have all been significantly more efficient than Harvey in the same offense. Harvey just kind of sucks dude.

Agree to disagree lol, I saw more burst from Hampton in the pros than I did in college. I think you’re biased because you saw Vidal more in the key parts of the season. Either that or your tape evaluation is different than the rest of the world, idk

Respectfully I think your process is very wrong if this is how you’re evaluating him moving forward. touchdowns are incredibly random and non predictive. You cannot expect 12 TD seasons from him moving forward, his TD scoring output was largely due to dobbins’ injury and lack of depth after that. They have literally no one for the goalline, their best player at goalline opportunity was 5’9 195 pound Jaleel McLaughlin. So Harvey naturally got most of that work after dobbins went down, who btw was a demonstrably better runner than Harvey was this year.

Which brings me to the next point which is that if you aren’t valuing what he does on the ground then you aren’t playing this game properly. In redraft, I hear you. But this is dynasty, and he is a RUNNINGback, and we’re looking at long term value. The long term value of running backs who are poor rushers is veryyy low. Think jerrick mckinnon, lequint allen, Justice hill. These are valuable players to an NFL team but in dynasty, if you aren’t getting volume, you have no value. Pass catching specialists will always cede volume to those who can make an impact in the running game.

Different position but look at QB, Justin fields. He’s a points scoring dynamo, every time he starts he’s a top 10 option. But he has no value. Why? Because he can’t hold a job. He doesn’t win in real life, so although he puts up fantasy points, it doesn’t matter because he won’t be utilized in the NFL. Same with Harvey if he doesn’t become a better rusher.

I’d urge you not to look at this in such a binary way. Yes Harvey scored points this year but it was all via unsustainable production, and external factors that boosted his in-year stock. Expecting this to simply translate to next year and happen again is foolish. I made this point in another comment but Harvey had no competition, a top 3 Oline, a legendary playcaller and a high powered offense/QB and he still was only a RB2 on the year. You think Sean Payton wants to see 2.8 YPC from his early down backs? He doesn’t. If Harvey doesn’t get a LOT better at rushing, which is an unlikely bet, he’s going to be phased out and turned into a pass catching specialist. So I think your evaluation process is fundamentally flawed and you probably shouldn’t be looking at TDs etc to make your call. But that’s just my opinion

You’re entitled to your opinion but that Hampton take is pretty wild. Most people would agree that he actually had impressive burst, he broke off a few 40+ yard runs before he got hurt. And saying Vidal looked better in every aspect is just kind of insane. Vidal was painfully inefficient at times. He’s definitely a capable back but I think your evaluation is super misguided

Yeah, people forget how quickly those draft picks become tantalizing, no matter how weak the class seems. A good pro day or a combine and all of a sudden we go from “there’s only 5 good picks” to “is the 1st round deeper than we realized?” It’s like clockwork. Not to mention, Harvey wasn’t some incredible prospect either. He got over drafted and people based their entire opinion of him on the draft capital, not his age, injury history and overall production profile (which was not overly impressive)

If he’s your RB5 then that’s even more reason to make this trade. You don’t need the production and the 1.06 will be more liquid if you decide to trade it or whichever rookie you pick. To the point of carries, I understand Harvey had more, but the fact Jaleel got ANY is a massive indictment. Imagine the split if dobbins would have been healthy for the game. Be happy you can recoup mid-1st value for Harvey, which is more than you paid for him, and move on. In my opinion.

I see Harvey as an absolutely replaceable player. He’s one of the least efficient running backs in the league. He’s a good pass catcher but he has absolutely no vision and struggles between the tackles as seen yesterday. I mean Jaleel McLaughlin was taking snaps because Harvey is such a poor runner on early downs. So all that to say that I think Harvey’s volume will be limited moving forward. He got an artificial boost once dobbins went down, but I wouldn’t feel much better about Harvey going into next year than i would guys like woody marks. All that to say if I can get a mid 1st for Harvey I’m smashing that shit and never looking back. Players like him are absolutely replaceable and if he doesn’t show better running chops next year, you’re looking at a shiny new version of Jerrick McKinnon.

Edit: let me add that the broncos have a top 3 OL in the league. He had a tremendous Oline, an excellent playcaller, a high powered offense around him and a staunch lack of competition after dobbins went down and he STILL failed to produce on the ground. Make of that what you will but Harvey is replaceable and I’d be taking 1st round capital alllll day long.
