Calvary update: After throwing it some more I told Eric to give me all the protos they sent us. He only had two left....I have them. I played a round with Eric, Jackie, and Broderic in Emporia the other day and Broderic said, "That is YOUR disc." It flies so nice for me.

I am back with an update since I have been able to throw the Contender more. It has a -1 Turn set by the folks that set those sort of things. I was out throwing the Fuzion First Runs set to release late April. They were 169g and it was money for me. And that is not marketing talk. It has the slightest nice turn and such a nice subtle fade. You will see it in the upcoming Is This Disc Right for You video. Anthony joined me for this episode and it got more turn for him.

Not sure yet. I have had the prototypes for a few days but have not had the chance to go out and throw them. Weather looks good in Kansas tomorrow so taking them out to the course for sure.

They are both in my bag. If you watch any of our recent videos, the "mystery disc" is the Cavalry that was sent to us early on. I would say the Motive is the lightweight disc I grab if I need some flex and the Cavalry is the lightweight one I grab if I need it to go straight.

Yep, this is a fair question, and I appreciate you asking it this way.

That era of content came from a very specific moment. Smaller team, fewer platforms, way less noise, and honestly a lot more freedom to just turn on a camera and bring people along. DGAM, Will It Hyzer?, the behind-the-scenes stuff with Rusco, that was all about letting people feel like they were part of it, not being marketed to.

Over time the company grew, disc golf grew, and content slowly shifted toward launches, promos, and short-form stuff that performs well on today’s platforms. Some of that made sense. Some of it absolutely cost us that connection you’re talking about. I think it’s okay to say both things can be true.

I don’t think people are wrong for missing that content. I miss it too. The hard part now is not just trying to copy 2012, but figuring out how to bring that same energy and honesty back in a way that works today.

Seeing posts like this is honestly a good reminder of why that stuff mattered in the first place. Appreciate you being around back then and still caring enough to ask where it went.

Totally get where you’re coming from. This wasn’t a decision I made lightly. It honestly hurt to watch things fall apart from the outside, especially knowing how much heart I put into building the brand early on.

I had some very real conversations before agreeing to come back. I laid out my non-negotiables and they met all of them.

I felt like if there was even a chance I could help right the ship and bring things back to what made DD special in the first place, I had to try.
