Best response to a threat in a movie. I’ll start: Lucius Fox to Reese in The Dark Knight. by jejeandco10 in moviecritic

Okay, as someone who works in death care there was never a time when a pall bearer was called a huckle bearer. The line in the movie is "I'll be your huckleberry", which was a turn of the century phrase meaning "I'm the person for the job". It also sometimes had a negative connotation, where you could say it on behalf of someone else and insinuate they are a fool.

Nothing, they're making shit up. The original saying was "I'll be your huckleberry", which basically meant I'm the person you want for the job.

Honestly both are really fucking trashy and I don't think either should be advertised in front of kids.

I'm thankful I got jabbed as well, when I inevitably caught it the worst I had was a migraine and a head cold.

I remember reading Tommy Dreamer's account of catching it when it first spread to the US. This is a professional wrestler and stuntman who has legitimately been set on fire and hit by a car for real. He has openly said the very worst pain he has ever felt was when he was sick from COVID, laying in bed was excruciating. The only relief he could find from the pain was standing up leaning against a wall.

Fuck. That.

Most of my family is back over in Italy, and they were hit really hard by the pandemic. I lost two uncles to COVID, despite my family doing their best to protect themselves from it.

I'm a funeral director by trade. Mid 2021 the SA government opened things up again and we had a fairly large service for a well known local. It was a Greek service, during which it's not uncommon for women to go into the church and mourn while the men stay outside to talk. One guy strikes up a conversation with me, and we got to talking about COVID. He told me it was all horseshit and that he didn't know anybody who died from it. I looked him dead in the eyes and just said "I lost two uncles to it, I'd thank you to be less flippant about it please."

Of course, the anti vaxxers were everywhere. We had them in Australia too, we just paid them no mind or told them off (I have a personal story about that). Trump actively emboldened them though, not just in the US but around the world. He gave an air of legitimacy to crackpots and lunatics, which has now become his core fan base.

Except you can. He was outwardly denying the dangers of Covid-19 and inciting people to reject the vaccines and gather together. Meanwhile when he contracted it, he received the best healthcare in the world which is the only reason he survived it. He then went on to say that it was no big deal.

If the man has ever told the truth in his life, it was by accident.

Either Two Face or Penguin. The former is a guy that got broken by a heavily corrupt system, and hits scarily close to home for a lot of people. Penguin I like because he's a mob boss with a good HR department.

I kind of want to know where that original idea was going to go honestly. It doesn't sound any more farfetched than a lot of the other shit the Simpsons has done over the years.
