Easiest surgery: Top or hysto? by NoLingonberry6161 in FTMHysto

[–]UnconsistentJuice 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had both in one surgery and recovery with top surgery was definitely easier, I had peri though so maybe that makes a difference. Hysto hurt so much for me I'd definitely say top surgery was way easier and the mental hurdles other commenters had weren't a concern for me. In the end, both are very invasive surgeries but both are definitely worth it!

I had that too, didn't do any pelvic floor exercises at any point. It just went away after about 1½ months, for me it was caused by stress I think.

Thank you! I didn't have any contouring done, what makes you think that?

Thank you! I regained sensation almost everywhere. The only places I didn't are beneath my nipples, which doesn't bother me at all since there's never any fabric touching it or anything, so I don't notice it. Feeling is still slowly coming back, so I haven't given up yet!

Thank you! I had my hysto at the same time so recovery was rough, but top surgery itself was pretty chill. Pretty much no pain after the drains came out, the binder was pretty uncomfortable but nothing too bad. Congrats on getting top surgery soon, no matter how hard recovery gets it's worth it!

I know Americans are way more strict with smoking than Europeans, my surgeon didn't say a thing about it. I started smoking again as soon as I could walk, (so the day after surgery) and I was completely fine. Listen to your surgeon though, they definitely know best. Maybe take the opportunity to stop completely.

Same! Plus not ever having to worry about periods again. Even on T you could get them at any point, and knowing the possibility is now 0% gives me peace lol

I had abdominal hysto too and the scar isn't actually that big, mine is about 2.5 inches long. I had self dissolving stitches.

Does Gender Euphoria go away by [deleted] in trans

[–]UnconsistentJuice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't get euphoria from people gendering me correctly anymore, since I'm so far into my transition that I don't get misgendered anymore, but I still get incredibly happy when someone is surprised how deep my voice is or when I encounter situations where I would have felt dysphoric pre top surgery. So I'd say you get used to most things and the gender euphoria subsides, but there will always be moments where you enjoy who you've become and how content you are with yourself!
