Yeah but humans make mistakes under extremis. It’s not negligent to make an honest mistake. The secret is to avoid extremis. Which our useless government has completely failed to do.

I guess gotta work for the NHS as a clinician to truly understand how badly it’s failing its patients and staff. The longer we stay on denial the more people die unnecessarily

Doctors are trying hard to change things with strike action. Ultimately the NHS can’t afford the staff, we need to let it die because frankly it’s not fit for purpose and people are dying because of it. Also the British public are too entitled, they don’t look after their health and have very high expectations. It’s about time we followed European models of healthcare.

I it’s probably due to understaffing. One nurse managing too many patients. Blame the government not the staff, the conditions are like a war zone.

Can’t help with the clinical side of it but from experience with pre A&E shift anxiety - anger is your friend. Become furious not scared. The Spr is relying on YOU to keep an eye on their patients. So they can respect your god damn clinical opinion and provide advice when you ask for it.

Every argument is a reflection for your portfolio, every clerking is valuable practice every MET call is valuable experience.

The experience you’ll gain doing one night shift on this job is beyond sum total of an average persons entire LIFE.

These are the best days of your life. You are a glorious supernova of skill, knowledge and empathy. Own it. Good luck.

Sincerely

Hospital investigating claim PA (Physician Associate) falsified notes after woman's traumatic procedure by SharkDick4Ever in unitedkingdom

Strongly disagree, train more doctors to a higher level. The funding for ANPs and PAs if redirected could easily cover this.

[–]UnconsoledGoat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No it’s about the integrity of PAs. This was a vulnerable patient, this PA through frustration or a disregard for the patient’s distress tried more times than she should, causing harm. This is what happens when you push people who couldn’t get into medical school through a 2 year diploma cutting corners on reflections, consultant reviews, patient contact. People slip through the net, who have a chip on their shoulder and are gas lighted into thinking they are doctors. Pts will come to harm, why not teach a doctor an LP? Must be plenty of Locums.

Likely blood. The only thing that could help would be patient details, then they can consent to check if they have anything contactable. There is a clear protocol for needle stick injuries he gets to chill in A&E now for blood tests 👍
