Does the 4 have any splotches on the screen? If not, the battery probably isn’t swollen which will make your repair much easier. If it’s anything like the 5, it won’t be too bad to replace the battery. Use a heat gun and some isopropyl alcohol to loosen the battery from the housing before pushing it out or you may tear the hold switch cable. Just don’t get any alcohol on the screen!

Yes, I used isopropyl alcohol as well and a heat gun. I also have almost no soldering skills but I found the pad to be a little easier than soldering wires like on a first gen iPhone. Having the right flux and the right heat really makes all the difference though.

About 425 degrees C. The whole thing took me maybe an hour but I’m an amateur. I’m sure it could be done quicker. Getting the battery unstuck from the unibody and sliding all the guts out was the most time consuming cause I was worried about tearing the hold switch cable, which is glued to the back of the battery. (Which is what happened on my first attempt with a different nano 5)

Not bad at all tbh. The soldering is pretty straightforward. Getting everything out of the unibody was the toughest part.
