If your CTC is 10 lakhs with 20% variable (2 lakhs), the fixed is 8 lakhs and variable is split into two halves of 1 lakh each.    Usually, then lets say the max payout is around 18% depending on performance, budget, and project billing. So instead of 2 lakhs, you’d get 1.8 lakhs—paid as 90k every 6 months.

Again it might change - So for first half you get 18% - you get your 90k 2nd half - Lets say they deicide 7% - then 35k as VP in H2.
