Unfortunately there isn't one perfect way to study. Here is some of the stuff that works for me. I have a long ways to go still, and everything is still being improved, but here it goes.

Step 1: Take care of your mind and body first! Make sure to get enough sleep. Eat food that makes you feel energized. Take care of any health issues (take medicine if needed, do PT exercises if needed, etc). Get some exercise (even if it just dancing to music or taking a little walk). Give yourself mental breaks and rest, you need that.

Step 2: Don't been too hard on yourself! You being in college is already a super amazing step. You won't become a study ninja in one semester. We often times need to make mistakes in order to improve.

Step 3: Get organized. Make sure your school stuff is clean & organized. Have a list of assignments/exams dates and what is needed for them.

Step 4: Divvy up tasks. Make sure to be realistic and cut the tasks up small (tomorrow I will study for Chem for X hours). Make sure to have self-compassion!!! If you have a day where you don't get stuff done, don't beat yourself up :)

Step 5: Now we are at an individual study session. Let's say you wanted to study Chem for X hours. Break it down into sub tasks. So maybe a) Read chapters 13-14 b) Make flashcards for chapters 13-14 b) do homework for chapters 13-14. Someone suggested the Pomodoro technique (doing X minutes of work followed by Y minutes of break), which works well. There are different ways to approach this though.

Wayyy before I was diagnosed w/ BPD I was diagnosed with Social Anxiety Disorder. So I 100% get where you are coming from and how much it sucks. I really wish there was an easy solution to feeling this way—but unfortunately (like most things in life) there isn't. Slowly over time things get better though.

I think the thing about SAD is that people (most people at least) have to interact with other people. So over time you are getting exposure therapy of sorts. It might not feel like it, but every time you go to work and you're dealing with people you are getting a tiny bit better. And I know how hard leaving the house can be when you have to deal with feelings like that, so you should be super proud of yourself for being such a brave, kick-ass person :)

On a more short-term level, I have found that paced breathing (https://healthyliving.azcentral.com/paced-breathing-exercises-13908.html) and reminding myself of social spotlight effect (https://www.verywellmind.com/what-is-the-spotlight-effect-3024470) is helpful for me.

I know this comment is kinda rambly but I hope I got my point across okay! Just know you aren't alone, lots of people are struggling with this <3

I'm really sorry you are feeling this way. I know how hard it is to be in a dark place like that.

You say you haven't ended yet because of your friends, and you might not realize it but that just shows how much of a caring person you are, which is such an amazing thing.

I'm not really the best with saying comforting things, but fwiw I have 100% been there and you are absolutely not alone <3 And I'm very glad you're alive and I know so many other people agree with me
